Since we went to cable for our web connection, we networked our three computers and designated some files that we can share. My oldest (18) is sharing his MP3 file and tonight I checked it out for the first time. The kid really surprises me sometime - he's got a lot of my old favorites on this but also some very good new stuff too. Ever heard of Enya (I suppose you all have and I'm the last to find out)? I really like them - a lot of celtic type stuff. I've been playing them for about an hour so far and I'm so relaxed!

Enya and Yanni and Vangelis are all nice. There is so much more out there in the same vein. If you like Enya, you might also like Sheppard Moons

okay Yanni is just plain old sexy! And yes, his music does stir the soul...but then ins't that music is supposed to do? I personally don't understand all that Rap and heavy metal "stuff"...it's just noise to my ears. So I get to go around with the "stimga" that I'm some "tree hugger hippy type" because I listen to Yanni and Enya and others. I first started listening to this type of music in the mid 70's when they came out with the "moog synthiziser" and Walter Carlos now Wendy Carlos did a bunch of music. In the 80's when I lived in Tucson the PBS radio station used to air "Music From The Hearts Of Space" which was nothing but this type of music. They were hurting for $$ and I've not heard them in many years. It's a shame really, it was wonderful music and I recorded many of the shows which I still play today. I'm always so glad and kind of releived that other people "out there" like the same type of peaceful music.

btw: Vangelis's work was used in the PBS series The Cosmos...great stuff. ALso used his music in Bladerrunner with Harrison Ford (another yummy). Some of Enya's work was used in GreenCard

I love Enya too. I got hooked on Enya when she made Orinoco Flow. She is so talented. My favorite CD by her is Shepard Moon. The new one is really good too.

Funny thing though, I knew I was going to like Enya years ago. I didn't know her name but I knew her music. I had premonitions of listening to her music in my apartment many years ago.

Now, I love anything played on the "moog synthesizer"!! And, I also love classical music, Scott Joplin's ragtime music, bluegrass banjo and fiddle music, Native American flutes, and harpsichord, too. Has anyone ever done housework while listening to some John Phillip Sousa marches?? Those really can get you moving! =) I guess this labels me in alot of ways, too, but I wouldn't give up my music for any price!

The only music I really don't care for is heavy metal, gangster rap (some rap is OK), and improvisational jazz reminds me of a grade school band tuning up before playing for a concert for their parents. YIKES! What a cacaphony!!!

I do housework to the "Grease" albums (yes those large black things). The volumn tends to leave me in the house alone though.

I can't say I dislike any "type" of music because I usually pick my music according to the individual song so I've got a strange collection; however, there is an Elvis song I don't like "Suspicious Minds" - too few lyrics for the length of time that it plays.
