I am always interested in the thing that finally trips someones switch.Under what circumstances, if any, would you kill someone??? It can be premeditated or spontaneous. Let's rule out self-defense- too obvious!

For me it would be if someone harmed my family or dogs. It would be well planned out- it would happen a long time after the crime was commited and it would probably involve a high-power rifle-
Or a dark place up close and personal. I like the up close and personal part but that's real risky.

For lesser offenses I would inform on them to the BATF anonymously and do a walk by while their hosue was trashed from stem to stern. Yeh!

I'm really not quite as mean as I sound........sundog

For me it would be if anyone hurt or hamred my children in any way and that includes molestation. I would stalk them for a few weeks to a month. Then I would do the up close and personal routine, and I think a Draino cocktail would do nicely.
I, also, am not as mean or as gruesome as I sound.

If I did at all, it would be if they killed a member of my immediate family - especially if it were in a heinous way. The MO would depend on the situation at hand. =)

For me to personally kill it would have to be an immediate response or they would have to have killed my husband and my kids. If there were one person left that would need me, I'd have to push my emotions aside and be there for that one person. Hoowwever, that doesn't mean that the murderer would get away. I know people who do certain things and I wouldn't have to ask them to do anything. All I'd have to do is make sure that these certain people knew what happened and who did it. These people would not give the murdered/molester and easy death - no quick shot - they would suffer as much as the victim and I'd read about it in the paper once it was done and there would be no suspects.

I wouldn't be apt to kill anyone, unless, as many of you stated, there had been greivous harm/death to one of my immediate family or my animals. I really don't know what method I would use... there is less and less chance of commiting the perfect crime any more, and I would probably choose not to, especially if I still had any immediate family left who may need me after whatever had happened. In that case, I most likely wouldn't risk the jail term or death to add to the woes of my remaining family. But, if I ever chose to act on something like this, I think I would probably seek out a clever way for the perp to cause their own demise, without my presence. =D

Yeah, I just have this thing about looking ahead to what might result if I took a particular action like this. I wouldn't want to make things worse for those I love by compounding the problem for them. But, under the right circumstances, who can say?

Have I told all of you that you are wonderfull, kind, considerate, pleasant, pretty, fantastic, =) =) wonderful people.......

Wow. =)

I believe that everyone is capable of killing someone. It just depends on the situation.

Hmmm. I would kill someone without hesitation if it meant protecting the life of someone else. For example, you are on a plane that is being hijacked. Killing the hijacker to me seems the best way to save lives(tens, hundreds, thousands..)and of course depending on the situation.
If someone killed or harmed someone in my family, I don't think I would kill them. If it meant protecting someone in the future from dying or being harmed, maybe, depending on the circumstance. Like with a psychopathic killer. I would sorely want to. No mistake about that. I'm sure I would be seathing in rage. If I found the person in front of me I might just punch a hole in their chest. But I wouldn't seek them out.
Killing a killer to save the life of an innocent, I like to think I would. Killing someone in revenge I like to think I wouldn't.
But this is one of those things that you really don't know what you would do until it happens.
Can you really pull a trigger and end all of someone's tommorrows? Can you put that poison in someones food and take away their option to repent? Do we know that they would never change?
It will come to bare when it occurs.
I could die happy knowing I never had to make that decision.

I think it's a given that most people would kill another person, if the threatened the life of your family member or yourself.
But I think the real question isn't (would you Kill someone?) The real question is, in what situation in proper society, would you refuse to attempt to stop a killing from happening?

I don't think that I would stop the killing of someone who has already killed others... people like Osama bin Laden, for instance. I would probably pack a picnic lunch and go to his hanging!!! (I know that sounds cruel and heartless, but I do think that there are limits on the "good guy" attitude that we sometimes have about killing a murderer. Look how long we let people hang out on death row, and many of them should have paid their "eye for an eye" years ago. Like Charles Manson.....
he has told people that if he were set free, he would kill more people. Just my thoughts.....

That's a valid point!
But I was reffering to situations you might encounter on the city streets, as opposed to the courts.
If you saw someone being held at gun point with the gunman's finger depressing the trigger slowly; what might your instincts tell you to do then? Or would you preserve your own saftey over that of a stranger's?

That's one of those things you don't know what you'd do until it happened. I would hope that I would do what I could to prevent that person from pulling the trigger - even a scream can cause enough hesitation to get the person to release his grip long enough for him to miss his target.

I would hope I would have to courage to stop the killing of an innocent person. But I don't know what I'd do for sure, I've never been in that particular situation. As for what would make me kill, harming my child in anyway. I'd kill them and do it slowly. The only other person I have the overwhelming urge to harm in a convicted child killer from around here. He shook his girlfriend's 3 yr old daughter to death this fall. The thing is he took her to a gas station for help where my friend so happened to be with her two little kids. She saw that poor child lying there on the pavement while he went inside for help. She called me and told me what happened and told me she was sure he killed her. I would love to get ahold of him. I asked if maybe I could have 5 minutes alone with him in his cell after he was arrested. Of course my deputy friend said no. I was sorely disappointed but i was happy to find out most everyone else at the jail wanted to do the same things I did to the creep. He's getting his I suppose.

I would do whatever I could to stop the killing of an innocent - or what I perceive to be an innocent at the time. I think it would come involuntarily for me and I wouldn't have time to ponder the fact that my own life would be in danger as well... I'd just do it, even if like Connie said, it was only a scream. Surely a scream would accompany any bada$$ martial arts moves I might have to make up. ;-)
