This really happened and it shows the connection we can have with our pets.
Many years ago I was out with my roomie Richard at a bar on friday night in St. Augustine. We were busy getting a snootful when suddenly I got this cold fear feeling that something had happened to champer- my kitty.
I insisted we leave then and there. On the way home I began to just know that richard's niece had come into our apartment that we rented from them. I felt ill. she and her mother were vicious people. We pulled in and I ran to the door. Gizzy greeted me with hysterical mewing. I told Richard to check inside- he was quite drunk and useless as usual. I knew gizzy told me he had been taken out. I stood there- the singing of the bugs was overwhelming. A drippy black buggy night by the saltmarsh. There was a nasty tomcat across the street I was scared. I could feel champs fear too. I called his name and somewhere in between the notes of the insect symphony I heard a little mew. Heading in the direction of his voice I found him under the house in the back. Ok- now one of the things no one ever should do in high summer is crawl under a house in florida- spiders as big as your face not to mention snakes! The flashlight lit up his little eyes and he ran out to me and clung to my shoulder in fear- telling me what had happened. Funny- I always knew what he was telling me. anyway - that's the story. The feeling that came over me in that bar was unreal. Man- it was time to beat feet home!

Wow! That would have been pretty scary to go looking for him in the dark, with such a less-than-inviting nighttime environment where you were. But, when it involves one of our furkids, we can do anything to make them safe. It is an interesting story, and not to mention kinda spooky, there under the house! Thanks for sharing it with all of us. =O

How strange that must have been! I've heard of similar things happening to mothers that just know when their children are in danger or hurt some distance away. Maybe we tend to develop these 'instincts' with our pets as well!
