I wanted to pose this question and see what everyone thinks about it. Their viewpoint from their beliefs and where they are at this time in their life.
It has been bouncing around the inside of my skull off and on for quite some time now.

Some religions have a belief that it is mankinds destiny to create essentially heaven on earth. That we will progress spiritually towards world peace, unity and goodwill towards all life.
Christianity believes that Jesus will come to earth again and eventually this will be achieved (not going into specifics).
I grew up believing that mankind is evolving towards a better state of being where these things will someday be achieved.
But lately I am not so sure. I am not trying to put a negativity edge here. What I have been thinking is that maybe this world may never be a wonderful place and that is what God/The Creator intended. The reason for us to be here is for experience and growth. That if these opportunities for experience and growth are removed why would we come/get put here.
I am not saying not to struggle for world peace, humane treatement for all living beings for this I believe is part of the growth and experience. I believe we must always struggle for justice, protect the weak, defend liberty and freedom.
We all have suffered things we wouldn't wish on anyone else but these things made us stronger and wiser. It seems to be the purpose in suffering.
Remove suffering and you remove growth.

This is just a thought. For anyone to consider or not. Many people believe peace is the only answer. I agree.
Please respond if you wish.

Heaven on earth.... hmmmmm.... it may not be exactly as we envision "Heaven" to be. I don't think we will ever be just wandering around on streets of gold, and playing music on our holy kazoos. I think that it won't be a perfect heaven, but it may get close, especially if we can teach most parts of the world to just live and let live. But, I don't think that we will ever see a complete and total annialation of hatred. For so long as ony two or more people believe something differently, we will still be doing battle with evil, with the extremists who just cannot bear to be out of the spotlight.

It is an interesting question. Gosh, I don't know what to say, since I have really been pretty naive about the way the prisoners are treated. So, overall, I can't decice if it will be Heaven among the clouds, or heaven on earth.

I really couldn't decide whose side I am on here,,, There are plusses to both. But, man needs to learn to stop the fighting. It doesen't just disrupt people around them, and I do think that there are many who will be disappointed, when they consider the alternative.

A good, beefy question... and I am afraid that I didnt give
the best of answers... but I had not thought about this in a long time. It is definitely interesting, and rather retrospective, too. =D

Take care,

I tend to agree with you Nakis. I think as humans we strive to make a better world. Better in who's opinion? Well there's the catch. I feel that if we accomplish a "perfect" world then what is left for us to live for? As humans we have a need to struggle. It's our nature. We all can imagine what we want in our lives to make us happy. But if we really did get all that we want, we would be bored and unhappy. It's the struggle that makes life worth living. In our struggles we learn about ourselves and others and our world. Can we eliminate hate? Is hate the opposite of love? I don't think we can eliminate our emotions only learn to temper them. You asked a very interesting question Nakis. I'll give it more thought.

Nakis,
I dont think you were having a "negativity" thing going at all. You were having a good dose of reality thing going.
I feel that to remove struggle is to remove growth and this is how it just is.

I can assure you that the world is no more evil than it ever has been. Things are "the same as it ever was" (hand motion from talking heads video here...)We just here about it more with all this technology that makes the world rub it's elbows too closely.

Read Richard Bach's book "Illusions". it is an old book but a goody and who is to question whether wisdom comes from the bible, the koran, the tao, Quai Chang Caine from an episode of 'Kung fu" or Richard Bach. The gist of the book is this- Donald Shimoda is basically an avatar that hangs with his bi-plane in a story where the journery is the essence. His wisdom includes these two things...
If you are still alive you have not completed your purpose and that we have been put here to learn and enjoy- and that's really pretty profound if we can come up above the suffocating waters of woe and give it a good thought.

Another thing we can all do to make this world a bit better in small spots is this- PAY IT FORWARD!!
HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOVIE PAY IT FORWARD!! DO SO AND IT WILL ALL BECOME CLEAR! RENT IT AND IT IS ON HBO RIGHT NOW!

There's a serious call out there for more angels in this world and one person can make a difference and then another does and another does.

It's ok to be perplexitating with all this existential sort of angst- it is a sign to our souls that they are growing.

So- smile and see the beauty in the tiniest things- it is there and is food for your soul.

oh- I am worried about you- do not feel negative- rather- feel determined- now go out and enjoy the first signs of spring up there in the cold cold north and learn from it that mother earth promises us rebirth all the time. it's her job as our mother and teacher. and it is our job to pay attention to her.

Scuse the rambling- was up late and my mind is just slipping and sliding through the curves- but I did notice the beauty of sun on the long pine needles glistening with life.

love ya nakis. you are a good soul!

I don't believe this is ever going to be a perfect world - it's not supposed to be. I know some dream about it being so, but in reality, there isn't a chance. And one person's 'perfect' will not be another person's 'perfect', and so on times a gazillion. You've heard the phrase - you can please some of the people all the time but cannot please all the people some of the time. Something like that! Anyhow, I think this plane of existance is strictly for growing and learning - to grow and learn is a struggle. Who knows what comes next! I guess we'll know when we get there. ;-) Good question to ponder Nakis!

I agree with Kel on this topic. This world is not perfect. Look at nature itself. The strong overcomes the weak. Species eat species. I remember and old song from the 70's called "Bungle in the Jungle" by Jethro Tull.

"The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass.
He's a lover of life but a player of pawns ---"
