Saturday after work I went for a hike.
I parked on Route 141 at the top of a pass. I was changing my from my work boots to my hiking boots in my truck. After putting on one of my boots I looked out my windshield and saw a man with three little children across the road coming down a four wheel drive trail from the woods. I didn't think anything of it. Just a guy with three kids. I grabbed my hiking boot and put it on. When I looked up again they were gone. Which shocked me.
It only took about 20 seconds to put on and lace up my boot. It has those speed lacing hooks that you just need to loop and then tie the knot. Rte 141 is a very busy route. It takes at least a minute or two to get a space in the traffic big enough before you can cross the road.
They were on the east side of the road. There is no parking on that side. I was on the west side where the parking is. I just don't understand how one adult male and three little children can be right out in the open on the opposite side of a heavy traffic road and suddenly be gone within 20 seconds.
I looked up and down the road. No sign. On the side of the I was on there is nothing but swamp beyond the parking areas.
Even if the man had a cell phone called his wife and had her pull over and pick them up they still wouldn't have had time to put the kids in the vehicle seatbelt them and drive away.
Were they ghosts? They looked real as anything else.
Were they after images? Right time right weather conditions for an after image.
Was there a time slip? I know I how long it takes to put on a boot. I just looked down put it on, then looked up.
Vewy, vewy stwange. I couldn't come up with any reasonable explaination as to where they could have gone in the time it appeared that had elapsed. (shrug).

Do you remember what they were wearing? Modern clothes? Jeans and such? How about what color the clothes were? It sounds strange to me too. Did you just look up (glance) at them or did you take a good look?

They looked like modern clothes. I didn't look at them too long but I noticed that the man was wearing a rather newish foul wealther coat. It looked expensive. The kids were wearing what seemed to be really good outwear. One kid was about 3, the next maybe 4 or 5 and the oldest maybe 7-8. They weren't wearing any style of clothes that seemed to be anything more than 30 - 40 years old (you know how old styles are revived alot nowadays). They didn't seem out of place when I saw them. It's just the time it took for them to not be anywhere around. It takes time to move 3 small children like them.

That's kind of peculiar.... to say the least. It sounds like one of those things that makes your gut tell you that something isn't quite normal about them. Sounds like the terrain was such that they couldn't have disappeared into a bunch of bushes or trees, or behind a hill, or in a low spot, etc.?? Sheeesh! This is something that you will never forget, and if you ever go there again, or just drive by, you will always wonder about them. Perhaps they were from another time... just not as long ago as we usually think of in an instance like this. I think you may have encountered something other than flesh and bone human beings. =O! =O

Is there anyway of finding out if a man and his childern died at that spot?It may have happened on that trail.If you could find out then you know what you saw.My Grandmother told me a true story that happened to her.Her brother was very ill not expected to live.He was at their Grandmother's house.Her mother sent her home to get his good clothes to be buried in.The road she was on went in a c-shape with a corn field at the curve.Before she got to the edge of the corn she saw a horse drown hersh coming on the other part of the road opposite her.When she got to where she would have met the hersh it was no where to be seen.There was no place it could have gone.Scared her brother had past she turned and ran back to her Grandmother's house.What she found was nothing short of a miricle.Her brother was sitting eating.She always told me if she would have meet that hersh he would have been dead.That was a now see it now you don't.Like the man and his kids we will never know where they came from or where they went. I would have gone over there and looked for tracks. It would drive me nuts if that happend to me. And if I didn't fine tracks, well I would really get creeped out then! =O

That is strange, Nakis. It would be bugging me too! What is beyond the road on the east side? Woods or anything?

What are 'after images'? Are you referring to a residual haunting?

I probably should have looked for tracks. It was in the low thirties at the time so they probably wouldn't have made much of a track but they might have.
It's winter so there are no leaves, there is only light brush there. The trail went back about forty to fifty feet where is crested a hill on that side of the road. They were coming down that trail towards my direction. They would have had to about face and hi-tail it back up the trail to get out of sight before I could see them again. If they were able to get across the street quickly, which is extremely unlikely due to the traffic, there is nothing but swamp on just beyond the parking area. I ran through all the scenarios in my head to see if there was a likely reason for what happened. I couldn't find anything. shrug.

hmmm, that reminds me of an experience I had once. A friend of mine was laid up with a broken leg so I went over to her house to mow the lawn. I had made several passes on one side of the house when I looked up for a moment and saw someone standing there. I looked away and then jolted realizing that nobody could be there w/o walking past me! I looked back and nobody was there. I chalked it up to imagination and finished mowing and went inside (even though my hands were shaking). When I started to tell my friend about it she went pale. She asked what did the person I thought I saw look like. I told her it was a girl, taller than me, brown shoulder length hair wearing a white shirt... and then I blanked.....that's all I could recall. My friend said she had other ppl tell her about seeing someone that matched that description in odd places in and around her house though she had never had any experience of her own like that. My friend won't talk much about it now, but she stayed in the house rarely and is now trying to sell it while she stays at her parents home. It's been on the market for over a year and houses all around the area are being bought, but not hers.

Oh my gosh - how strange that this person is seen around her house, disappers - and no one knows who she is! For some reason I see her as slim for her height - and 70ish style looking. What do you think?

Has your friend ever researched the house or property? It's quite possible that girl lived, and perhaps died there. Is there any other activity in the house that you know of?

It's interesting that your friend has never seen this girl herself. I wonder why? Take some photos around the house and the area where you saw her. Maybe you just might get something on film. An orb or something. It's too bad she is having a tough time selling the house. Do you think it's because it has bad vibes or something? How does it feel when you go in the house?
