Just over the last couple days, we've been hearing some strange sounds. I've heard a 'clang' in a place I shouldn't have in the back bedroom. There are also loud pops that about scare the bejeebies outta ya when you're drifting off to sleep.

Last night as we were all in the TV room watching TV, we heard what sounded like a hard thump on one of the milkglass bowls sitting on top of the TV! Nothing had fallen, the temp up there never changes too dramatically because the TV is always on, so it wasn't a snap from temperature change. We've never heard this before.
Earlier in the evening, the fire alarm by the back door went off in spurts. It will do this if there is smoke in the air from cooking. My dad had just finished cooking a pork chop in a little water, but there was no smoke. Ok, we pass that off.

Today, just a little while ago, the alarm went off again - 3 or 4 beeps. It never goes off during the day! No one had been cooking. I checked for fire or smell thereof - nothing. I turned the a/c fan on to stir the air up anyway. Just as I was sitting back down at my computer, it did another 3 beeps! grr! That was it though. Weird! When it needs a battery, it does a single soft chirp on a steady basis, so it's not the battery.

I get the feeling someone is messing with us!

Change the battery anyway and see if it stops. Low batteries can do weird things. As for the knocking sounds, that I can't explain. Our house makes so much noise you would swear someone was walking on the roof because you can hear it go from one one to the next. I attribute it to the cold outside and the warm inside. But the bowl snapping is too strange. I think someone wants you attention big time. Did you take any photos?

Definitly think you might have a visitor ;-)

Try asking what they want or if you can help them in anyway...or you can also ask them to leave. I had to do that with someone or something that was disturbing my son's sleep a few years back. I sat in the room and explained that they were frightening him and that it was making him very sad. I asked them to please leave or at least leave him alone so he could rest at night. It worked! =)

Yeah, we'll probably change the battery if it continues. The popping sounds in the bedroom usually come from somewhere within the room, like in the corner or end of the bed. Although one time a HUGE crash sounded in the attic just above the bed and made me scramble out - I thought the roof was coming down! =O! Didn't like that one bit.

I didn't take any pics last night. I meant to take some earlier today after the alarm went off but got sidetracked. =\ Maybe tonight will be good.

Chatter, I'm glad you were able to get rid of whatever was scaring your son. It's so nice when they mind! ;-) If the crazy noises keep up, we'll smudge again to get any bad guys out.
