a ghost?

I spend a great deal of time in this office alone: from 8:15-9:00am and then again after 1:00 until I leave at 5:00. As the result I leave the lights off in any room that is not being used (makes the "frugal" boss veeery happy ;-) ) and so the hall that leads to the back of this suite is usually quite dark. Farther back is the storage area and I noticed a few months ago strange noises coming from the storage area and that the light kept getting turned on. I didn't think much about it, as far as ghosts are concerned, I'm (almost ;-) ) unflappable and I can be a little absent minded at times.
Thing is, now those sounds are coming closer, getting closer to the front of the office where I spend so much time. I don't feel threatened by any of it, but I am curious why the sounds have begun to get closer asnd louder? And just this month a most peculiar thing has begun to happen: I often play CD's from my computer and when I go home I turn the CD player off and shut down the computer and go home. When I get back the computer is back on and the CD is playing but the speakers are still off. I'm no computer nerd, but I do know that unless I have inadvertedly keyed it to do so, I can not program my CD to come on at a certain time (like setting the alarm clock) and it's only two CD's in paticular: Yanni and Enya! So do I figure that my ghostie likes this type of music, too?!
=O! The activity seems more concentrated around "that time of the month" ;-) and so I'm wondering if somehow I'm more intune at that time then others?

Any ideas? =\

If I were you, I'd get a recorder set up where you're hearing the sounds.

As far as the cd player, if you leave a cd in the player, sometimes (and it's a quirk in some systems)the cd player automatically starts up when you turn your computer on. Try removing the cd and see if the player still starts itself up. =O

If you mean that the computer gets turned on sometime during the night, I would set up a recorder or something too to listen for noises... You might very well get something from it.
The thing about the light getting turned on, well, I believe in that totally because at the apartment, whenever I'd put Tina-Marie to bed at night, the light would get turned off and right before my very eyes, get turned back on. I got used to it that way and it didn't bother me any until one night, I went upstairs to use the washroom (right across from Tina's room) and the light was going on and off extremally fast and Tina-Marie was sitting up in her bed looking at something. I tried to talk to her but she was acting very strange, she had a little grin on her 3 yr old face! She did this for a little over a year, every single night. =(
If you have a video camera that you could set-up, you might see someone/something?

You just might! =D

So, you are in the office suite alone for the hours you mentioned, right? Now, I know this cuts into precious worktime  , but everytime you hear the noises, get up and walk toward them. See if a) you can figure out what's making the noise, or b) take note if it stops as you come toward it. What kind of noise would you say it is? Tapping, rustling, scooting, etc....

I don't know about windows or PC CD players, but the one I use on my Mac, I can set for 'autoplay'. Any time there is a CD in the computer on startup, the CD will begin to play. You can shut this feature off. Check your CD player program to see if it's on or not. So, no other CDs apart from Yanni or Enya have ever started up? Hmm! You might want to start a little journal on these things: the nosies & what happens when you approach; which CD & when it starts up... all that good stuff. ;-)

As for the computer starting up from being completely shutdown (not on sleep), erhmmm.... Can a power surge cause it, or something equally logical!? I don't think so, but I can't be sure. =\

Try taking some pictures! Setting up a video might be a good idea too, provided the boss doesn't think you've lost it.

That time of the month makes us more emotionally sensitive, so it would make sense that we might be more intune at those times. Good point!

I do have a micro recorder.... do you think that would work?
As for that stupid computer I doubt if it's a power surge since I have it plugged into a surge protector, but you're right, don't rule out the obvious just yet.
I have walked back there and when I do I get this all over scared/excited feeling in the pit of my stomach and my behind (okay you know as kids when our parents told us "wait till we get home" and you KNEW you were gonna get the beating of your life and it made your butt tingle? That kind of feeling...I'm NOT a freak  )
I don't own a video camera but I know where I can borow one and although my boss would indeed think I'd lost it, they tend to leave me alone when it comes to matters of the 'other wordly type".... I think I'll try that too. In fact I have that micro recorder here with me now I'll set it up before I leave tonight and see what happens. And just to let you know, we don't have a cleaning "crew" that would be me! Like I said, my boss is "frugal". ;-)

Mambear.... aren't you and your cubs just so adorable! =)

Miss Grrl,

Tape recorders with an external mic work best as it keeps any internal hissing noises out of the recording, but go ahead and use what you've got!

Let us know if anything turns up... anywhere... photos, videos, EVP's, more butt tingles... ;-)

actually, I did set up my micro-recorder last night. I guess I should have checked the batteries because I got maybe 2 minutes of play time and they went dead! >:-( It may be wishful thinking on my part but I swear I heard something! I'll let you know tomorrow as I will be bringing fresh batteries!
Also, this morning when I got in as I walked down the hall I noticed a funny spot on the carpet. It seems that the water cooler (which is in the kicthen)and the bottle that was inside and ontop both "sprang a leak" during the night! The rational side of me says "shit happens" and it's no big deal, but the wouldbe ghostbuster side of me asks the question: okay so now you have my full and undivided attention, what do you want?
Coinsidence? =O!

Sprits can drain your batteries (maybe that's how he/she got the energy to poke holes in the water bottle). Do you have an ac adapter for the recorder?

I did not know that about spirits and batteries! =O! No, I don't have an adapter and when I brought the fresh batteries in this morning, all I was able to hear was a bunch of hissing and the faintest of faint noises in the background. I don't have the computer program's neccessary to kick it up a notch and hear it better so I think what I will do is borrow that video cam and go at it from that angle.

I am so glad to know that someone else gets those silly butt tingles!!! I have been meaning to post about this... It is just a crazy thing that I get... and it reminds me of when I used to get chased as a child. It also happens with some kinds of psychic energy, now that I am older. This is one of the reactions that I often get when there are spirits hanging out behind me when I am working on the computer. One of them even tugged on my blouse one night, and Kell saw my blouse move in a strange way. Oh, da butt tingles!!!!

MissGrrl, I hope you get something fascinating in your ghost investigation! I just hope it doesn't get too scary!! :^)
