Everyone run out get your ribbon. Today's MAY DAY. Happy Beltane.
Time to celebrate spring and the new growing season (fertility?). I've got the pole ready.
Mines a red ribbon.

Anyone have some good info on the meaning and significance of Beltane, May Day and dancing around the Maypole(I'm more or less guessing =) )? Sundog?

I know the May Day thang began with the Celts , as that was the day they drove their cattle up to higher pastures ( about 150 B.C. ) . -Mark

Ha ha ha Nakis! Of course the old salty dog knows of the maypole!!! Why it's a great big phallic symbol- yessireebobitt!!!!

And while we are at it- for all yall up in thoe northern cold places- an old lady in Ohio told me this little jingle............"Hooray hooray it's the first of may.....outdoor F@#%ING begins today!!!" OOPS! Couldnt help myself. Of course down here in the deep south the very special meaning of this jingle is rather lost on folks as that is one sport we do all year round while we try to avoid rolling into a fire ant mound!

Did ya expect anything but an earthy answer from me on may day??? Gee- I hope not!

Love yall- and dance around that maypole with new understanding in your hearts and have some real right fertility fun!!!!!

Nakis, here are a couple links about May Day. Yep, fertility plays into it. It was called Beltane by the Celts. =P

They were cool websites. Great information.
Those DAMN puritans.

Have we really become better as the result of banning of those rites or is it that what has worked for centuries a better way to go?
Kind of a moot point as I don't think people will suddenly go back to the older ways.
It would be kind of impossible for New York City to engage in a Mayday celebration. No woods. No trees. And certainly no outdoor privacy.

And nope, Sundog, I expected, looked for and loved your response. =) =) ;-)

The part of me that connects to Greater Whole of our planet and life longs for return to the older ways. ( ='( & =) )

Hooray for the old ways!!! I am with ya, Nakis! The new ways of things just aren't the Earth ways. What is so very wrong about celebrating fertility? Without it, none of us would be here!

So, on we go.... trying our best to set things right again.... don't lose heart.... maybe we will stumble upon something eventually that will help us. I think there are times when the Creator must laugh at the humans.... =D
