Seldom do I have dreams that are really significant and stick with me, but this one has. As many of you know, my husband and I are adopting a baby -- we've finally settled on an agency. Anyway, a couple of nights ago, I dreamed that the baby was going to be delivered to us, and we were staying at my parent's old house. We had to make some last minute trip just a short way from the house, and when we pulled up in the drive, we saw the "baby-mobile" pulling away. Dad (who passed away a year ago) told me to go on in they had just dropped the baby off and Mom was inside with her. Just as we were walking to the front steps, a huge rainstorm starts, and rattlesnakes start popping up everywhere (I have dreams about snakes a lot!) Anyway, Dad and James were trying to sheild me from these snakes, as I make my way up to the door. About half way, one slithers out of a tree and lands at my feet, at which point I wake up. Any interpretations? I know that snakes can signify upcoming changes, any other thoughts?

are ya scared of snakes???? we could go and talk about all the usual shadow totem stuff here or maybe you are having simple anxiety about all the change. how could yall not be anxious??? wow- a baby is a very huge comittment- not like getting a goldfish......

I think it's some high anxiety popping up in your dreamtime. You are both so good and so brave to adopt a little baby like this. dont think I could do it and I'm one gutsy old ya-ya magnolia.

you are just very worried and stressed!!!

snakes are good!!! (except for that mocassin that came for a visit last week and nearly nailed my dog-do not- I repeat- do not use steak tongs to apprehend a poisonous snake!!)

also- are yall in a drought like we are here in norhtern Florida??? the snakes are coming in numbers untold into yards to find water- folks are being bitten a lot and being airlifted to hospitals!! Are ya having some snake anxiety too??? I know we are on the same latitiude but i dont know how your rain sitch is.

you just relax honey- and think of it this way- no labor pains!!!!!!

love ya- pamela

I'm just giving my opinion but maybe it means it won't be easy but that you've got support to make it through a difficult time and get to the change?

I had thought of the difficulty angle also -- after all, we will be working with two governments, not just one!
Sundog, am I afraid of snakes? You are talkin' to the original scaredy cat! You might have a real point -- I was just worrying the other day about one of those critters getting in the house (yes, we too are in a drought). Probably my subconcious mixing some stuff together. James told me about a lady he works with looking in her closet and seeing where one had shed its skin. =O! If it ever happens to me, I'm going to a safe place and drinking myself into a stupor until someone goes through my house from top to bottom. I've had a few run ins with those things -- weird stuff. I had one rap itself around me in the water when I was a teenager -- it didn't bite, just swam away. Anyway, that was most likely the culprit behind that dream!

Carrie,

I agree that it could be the anxiety showing itself in your dreams. I know I'd be very anxious about adopting a baby - even giving birth to one! ;-)

That is too scary about thst snake wrapping itself around you in the water. Yipe! I had a wolf spider do something similar to me when I was about 7 y/o. I was sitting in a chair at an elderly friends home, noticed the spider had crawled onto my midsection (I was wearing a halter top) - I freaked, quickly stood up and went to brush him off, but he ran around my body several times! Round and round we went! =O!

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! A wolf spider Kell! I heard some nasty stories about their bites. I'm glad you weren't bit.

I have to agree with everyone else. It sounds like a typical (your typical) anxiety dream. Your going someplace else while the baby gets delivered. Sounds like you're afraid that you aren't dedicating or showing enough dedication. I believe you are but you are afraid that you're not and by living your life, taking care of stuff,it might make you miss your baby.
Now the snakes sound like it's something that is something personal to you. Since you dream about snakes so much. They represent something to you. Usually something about your life that you haven't dealt with as well as you think you should have. Probably an insecurity about something. Safety. Your father and husband were protecting you so it sounds like something that is female in nature. Not natural to women but you insecurity has to do with women.
Do you have an issue with your Mom? (You don't have to tell anyone, just think about this). if you are Christian or are aware of the Old Testament, snakes were the deceiver and caused Eve to instigate Original Sin (I am not expounding Christian dogma, just looking at the mythical aspect of the human subconscious). The men are protecting, you're in danger. It might be that you are insecure about something that has to do with women.
I had this big thing with power lines. It took me a long time to figure out it had to do with my issues over authority and things I don't have control over in my life.

Nakis, you may have hit on something. I've been worried sick about Mom lately -- I don't like the neighborhood she moved to, and I'm working on getting her closer to the area I live. Good grief! I hadn't thought about anything like that! Our subconscious mind is such a weird thing!
Creepy about that wolf spider Kell! I had another snake incident: I was in college, and Dad always had a little fruit orchard. Well, to keep the birds away, he put rubber snakes in the trees. I had walked to the utility room to get something off a shelf and saw what I thought was a rubber snake coiled around the rod to hang clothes. Thinking Dad, who was a real practical joker had put it up there playing a trick on me, I went to grab it, thinking I would go throw it on him. Imagine my surprise when about an inch away , it flicked it's tongue out. =O! I cleared the place!

Wow, That was quite a dream, Carrie! Scary... at the first thought of the snakes near you in the dream. However, I think that Nakis' interpretation was very good! It pretty well isolated the worry about your mother! Incredible, Nakis!!!

I hope all will go just extra well with the adoption!! Carrie, we will all be waiting to become cyber-aunts and cyber-uncles!

Blessings,

Carrie - how scary! I'm glad you didn't grab that snake. Luckily he flickered his tongue in time, but how creepy!
