Has anyone seen this movie based on a true story,it was really creepy,so then we looked it up on the web and it is true.And then I got to thinking about the WTC and the face that was seen on the side of the WTC when it was burning and it looks like mothman,and also the picture of that thing flying away from the building,looks like mothman too.It was a pretty cool movie,and even scarier cause it was true,anyone have experience with mothman?

Wow! Now this is one that I haven't heard much about... just the term 'Mothman'.... but I would really like to see this movie. It sounds pretty scary. Is it in the video stores, or still at theatres right now? Does anyone know if it is on DVD yet?

It is kinda eerie that the face in the smoke at WTC looked like the Mothman......

Let me tell of a dream I had July 4th ... I was looking at skyscrapers in a big city and I saw a HUGE buzzard-like shape flying over the city. It soared without flapping its wings - back and forth it went ...then , I was face to face up close and personal with this Thing - it stood about what would be 8 feet away , it was about 7 feet tall , and its beak was kind of bulbous at the bottom , and it was smiling- if you can imagine a bird with a fixed beak smiling ! - and then , I was in a car , in the backseat , and next to me was a male being who said nothing- he was a spirit guide - but then this huge black Condor thing landed on the roof of the car and I could clearly see its foot , yellow it was , and it was so big , it draped over the window . So , what did I do ? I held up my arm to compare size - the claw alone was as long as my forearm ...( " To be forewarned is to be forearmed " ? ) Anyway , no way did I interpret that dream with the events of September , 2 months later , until I saw that picture of the flying creature near the WTC...that is very close to what I saw in dream.

I can't say I have heard of the Mothman Prophecies. What is it about?

Mothman is suppose to be this huge moth like creature with brigh red eyes that warns of coming disasters.Originally the WTC flying object was thought to be the legendary Thunderbirds that American Indians talk about,but to me it looks more like the pictures of mothman shown in the movie,and yes AZspirit it is out in video stores now also on DVD.

I saw a show, I believe on E! that told about the making of the movie, and went into a little background history. If I recall, back in the 70's, around an affluent area of Virginia, several people reported sightings of this creature along with some other weird phenomenon. I wonder if the DVD would have some of this information, like in the spots where they interview the director, etc...? A lot of the DVD's do things like that.

I watched the movie night before last and I must say it was pretty good. The movie based loosely (emphasis on loosely) on a book by John Keel called The Mothman Prophecies. The book is excellent. I have it and have read it a few times. It's about his experiences coming to Point Pleasent WV to investigate this whole Mothman deal. Point Pleasent is only about 40 minutes from me so I grew up listening to stories about the MothMan and the collapse of the Silver Bridge. The actually filmed parts of the movie around here and the newreporter you see on the TV screen in the resturant is an actual reporter from around here. They also use Channel 13 news which is for real. My ex's aunt and cousins live in Point Pleasent so I"ve been there a few times. Can't say I've ever seen the MothMan though. According to legend around here sighting of the MothMan started to occur not too long before the Silver Bridge collapsed. I've been told that the History Channel did a special on it but I didn't see it. The bridge fell right before Christmas while loaded with people. It was apparently really bad and several folks died. This was all before I was born so I just know what I read in the book and what I've been told by others. The bridge was what linked Point Pleasent WV and Gallipolis OH so it was frequently used. The story goes that the mothman appears as an omen of tradgey. At least that's what I've been told. Okay I'm rambling here. My advice is read the book lol. I got it at Wal-Mart for $5 =)

I don't know much about it either, except I've heard the name. I did a search and there seems to be a slew of sites out there about it.

There's a lot of info at this site. You can also click on a map to see where he's been sighted worldwide. The closest it's been to us is in Frisco, CO. and Corpus Christi, TX. =O!

Has anyone read "Mothman: Mothman: The facts behind the legend"? Seems to be a lot of books on it.

yes i have seen the moth man it was very wierd but a good film Well it did have Richard Gear in it =P It was actually quite spooky not so much of the mothman that you see but more about people and what it did to them in their mind.

Good film i would watch it again.

We rented it last night, out of curiousity, and it was a very good movie. Wasn't there an X-Files episode with a similar creature? I looked at the links that Kell posted, and was surprised to find this thing has been spotted all over the world -- pretty spooky!

Glad it was a good movie. I may just have to rent it. The X-Files episode was X-Cops. It was a knock off of Cops and it was about an invisible creature that was bothering a neighborhood for one night. The invisible thing could turn into whatever someone was most afraid of. One of those things was the mothman.

Isn't it just a huge suprise that I'm the one that can tell you about an X-Files episode? :lol:

Here is the picture I saw , taken in New York City the day of the attack , that is nearly identical to the flying creature dream I posted about on 6/11 ...In my dream , the flying thing was much bigger - y'all. -Mark :jump:

That's the same pic I have,it's a weird looking thing,looks like a huge bird or something,but looks like feet on the end.Don't know what it is,either it's mothman or a thunderbird or it's a regular bird that just looks magnified.

That was a wild dream you had, Mark! I think the flying thing in that WTC pic looks like our very own Pteredactyl Man on the banner in this forum. :lol:

I think I read somewhere that the photographer admitted to this pic being a hoax - or he was found out - something. ?_?

O I'm sure the picture is a hoax ... but my dream was as I described . It's just a way of telling it , the story goes on.

Mark, am I missing something somewhere.... how does your dream relate to Mothman? (Having not seen the movie yet, nor read the book, I guess I just don't see the similarity. I didn't know that Mothman looked like a Thunderbird.... ) Just curious.... ;-)
