I have had countless psychic experiences
throughout my life, and some of them are quite vivid. I had a person recently ask me why I couldn't read their mind, if I am indeed psychic. I am kind of in a quandry about this, as my experiences of psychic vision usually occur when I am not even thinking about the subject of my vision, and it just snaps into place, and is quickly gone.

So, does psychic = mindreader, necessarily, or is this talking about two separate and distinct abilities??

My psychic visions of recent months included a vision last June of my husband falling face forward, without any effort to catch himself with his hands, as we usually would do.... well, in July, he did fall, after passing out for an unknown reason (doctor never found an answer), falling in the bathroom and striking his jaw on the edge of the tub. It broke his jaw in 3 places.

Another vision, also involving my husband, was when I was giving him a bottle of essential oil (Tea Tree) to put on a fungus on his ear. The bottle was full, not yet opened. As he walked away, and down the hall, I suddenly had a vision of the bottle at 3/4 empty, and thinking to myself that maybe that was the level where we should order a new bottle, since we both use it. Only a few minutes later, my husband returned the bottle, and it was 3/4 empty!!! He was apologizing profusely, saying that I should order more, as he had accidentally dropped it into the sink while he was putting the oul on his ear. I was flabbergasted, but at the same time, I knew that it had to be my psychic ability kicking in again.

I have never read anyone's mind, per se, but I am very sensitive to their feelings. Because I can't read their minds, that mean also that I am not psychic? Does this make sense?

Anyway, I am wondering about all of this.....

Just because it is sporadic doesnt mean you arent psychic. I have it the same way that you do. I think that a good analogy would be that some of us are like a radio that depending on weather etc will receive AM broadcasts at times and at other times we dont. Folks who are the 24/7 kind of psychic are like a serious radio with a super antenna and pick it all up no matter what. These folks are rare and i feel sorry for them too!!

I think that most of us are capable of a now and then psychic experience but maybe what is going on in our lives from emotional to the physical causes us some static that prevents us from receiving.

just my thoughts- i sure do know how you feel. and BTW- not every psychic is a mind reader. whoever said that to you - if they knew their arse from a hole in the ground they would not have made such an ignorant statement.

I think everyone's psychic, it's to be able to know & understand it at least a little. Some are just too skeptical to believe at all in anything.
I like Sundog's theory about the radio, I too feel sorry for those who are "big radios" because I surely wouldn't like to live that way... I mean how the heck would you tune that radio out?
To each his/her own ability or radio station!
I've had experiences too, one who found a missing child but, I can't read my husband's mind or anyone else's either! (Darn it all huh? )

I also agree with Sundog's analogy. I also think that the longer you live around someone, the more likely you are to develop this "sixth sense" about them. For instance, when you just know a family member is ill, or in some kind of trouble, and sure enough, they are! I think a lot of it is a built in mechanism that alerts us with our loved ones. I know a lot of times, I complete my mother's sentences, and she does mine -- it used to spook her a bit.
Same type of thing when my Dad passed away, I sat bolt upright in bed at the time he was gone, and got the call just a few minutes after.
I've heard a lot of stories about people and their children, having some sort of psychic interaction when one was in need. Of course, like mentioned, there are also those for whom this mechanism works all the time -- Can't help but think they have brain overload! I don't think psychics have it 24/7, and the ones that claim to, in my opinion, are running a con game, or just full of themselves. Even John Edward has admitted difficulty on picking up on some people.

I totally agree with what has been said. I have had many experiences that some might call psychic, but to be able to do this on key, or when requested, forget it!! Mine is more like a 6th sense or a deep feeling, usually about those I love and care about deeply. I usually don't "see" positive things, which has never made this easy for me.

I've always had a strong feeling that I have had a guide, which some and some don't believe in. I remember as a child telling a very close friend about the person who told me when it wasn't safe, she told her mother my story, who in turn told my mom and I got told to quit scaring my friend and telling lies.

I have no idea how psychic's like John Edwards have perfected their ability to be able to read others, it's beyond me. I don't think I would ever want to be that gifted or receptive, it must make life very difficult.

Just because you cannot read a persons mind does not mean that you are not psychic. For a long time I was exactly like you are, not having any real control over it. If you are interested in making your senses happen more under your control there are many books that can help you out. The one that worked for me was one called 'You are Psychic' but any that catch your eye might be a good starting point.

I think it is a little more complicated. I think(please remember this is only what I think due to my experiences and what I have learned so far) is that we do recieve stuff all the time. It's mostly a matter of hearing and listening to it. Some people hear and see stuff but brush it off or tune it out. Most of us have so much other stuff (mundane life stuff, computer work, life) going on all the time we aren't tuning into it. I have found that the more I focus on it the more I pick up.
But then I don't want to pick it all up like what was said already. Years ago I tuned in very much and got more than I cared for.
And I believe that environment plays a part too so Sundog's analogy is right too. Our environment, house, community, region, weather, local energy, etc... also help or hinder.
I agree with Snoopy too that a lot depends on how much energy we put into it. The more you focus and train yourself to it the more you get.

Interesting thoughts everyone. Thanks for your input. I feel that I definitely have psychic ability, but I don't think I could conduct a show about it, like some do. But, there are certain things that I can purposely home in on, and get a reading. It can be something in my airspace, or far away.
Nakis, I agree with you about the information just being there, and most people tune it out. I am working to gain better control of picking up what I want, and still tuning out what I don't want to receive. I am getting better. I think meditation is a great help in working with this aspect of being psychic. I am using a candle or crystals for focus, and those help too.
