I have been following the 'bigfoot stories' for years, and I can't help but feel that he really is out there. Has the human race as we know it found something here that they are not smart enough to catch? But, there are so many questions. A similar creature has been seen in many parts of the world, and many societies are sure he is real. And yet, why has no one ever found any bones? Is their chemistry so different, that their bones decay much more completely and at a faster rate than bones as we know them? This is one mystery that I do think about alot, and I personally think they are real, and just entirely too smart for us. What do you think??

As a good X-phile I have to say that I think they are real. That said, I have never seen one and don't know anybody who has. ;-) It's an interesting point about the bones. I saw a documentary about elephants that said how their bodies and bones break down so fast that it's not often that you find and elephant skeleton. That's why there is all the myths about the secret elephant graveyards. It was an interesting show.

That looks like a cool book, Carrie. Does he go into the theory that the bones may disentegrate faster than our own bones? I think that may be a logical reason why we don't find BigFoot bones. Or maybe they hide them really, really good!

I believe an investigative group has found hair and poop from an unknown 'ape' near Tibet. If we've found hair and poop, certainly bones can't be far behind.

Riggs does mention that the bones may disintegrate faster, but his main theory is Big Foot as some sort of shape shifter. It sounds really far out, but when I started reading his arguments for this, it kinda makes you wonder! You get the impression of Riggs as a Bubba Redneck type, but a really well educated articulate one. (Bubba Redneck's can be both, I married one!) He also has a chapter on sightings of an ancient Indian tribe that was supposedly long extinct in this area. Anyway, I was impressed by the book.

I think that there are too many sightings, too much evidence, too many places around the world that creatures like this are seen for it to be just from our imaginations. There has to be something to it. People have caught their howls on tape. It's nothing that matches any other animal sounds.

Besides I believe a family had found one once. I think they named it Harry. I think the family that found it was named the Hendersons.

It's one mystery I'd love to solve. But you have to have a mobility to move through the dense woods to find them. If you can find an area that is having very recent sightings and have access to say an Apache or Blackhawk helicopter you might stand a chance of sighting one and getting it on film. They are so elusive.
But I'm definitely against trapping or shooting them despite how elusive they are.
Shapeshifting does sound like it can be a reasonable explanation for why they are so hard to find.
What are they supposed to shapeshift into? Poled Herferds? Longhorns? Barney? Guys named Bubba? (Sorry Carrie).

Nakis! I have seen a few of those Bubbas that could pass for Big Foot! James wears a size 14 1/2 shoe. His toes are almost as long as my fingers! My poor husband, the tales his wife tells!
Seriously, Riggs looked into several Native American legends regarding Big Foot, and proposed the theory that they could shape shift into these elusive black panthers that I had babbled about in an earlier post, or into a ghost light. He also checked out several reports linking these things to odd goings on with electrical systems (cars going dead, power outages,). The infamous Bragg light is in the same area as so many of the reports of these other phenomenon. When you try to explain it, it really sounds like a fruit cake theory, but presented the way he did in the book, it makes sense and is plausible.

Hi y'all! I do believe they exist and that my dad and I are distant relatives of the Yetti. That is why we are so hairy! I always tease my dad and say he has yetti blood in his background. No but seriously I do think they exist, but are very private creatures. Perhaps they bury their bones or hide like bears. I think their is something in the waters too. Loch ness and all the sightings make me believe their is something we thought was extinct. Hey Dinky Dave why don't you tell your Big Foot Story. =D
