Both of my sisters came by yesterday, and we got on the subject of my ghost(s?). I had posted the story about my great great grandmother's bed a while back and mentioned that I was going to dig out a photo of her and show it to my youngest sister to see if it matched the woman she saw in my house a while back. Well, it did not. The woman she saw was much smaller, frailer, and darker complected. The middle sister had not heard about this and told us that about six months ago she had a similar experience. She said she had rang the doorbell late one evening, but I had not been home. She looked in through the glass and saw a small, frail, elderly woman sitting on my sofa, she looked directly at her and ran toward the dining room! She didn't mention it, and the incident slipped her mind. This almost matches exactly to what the youngest one described. The only variation in the stories is that one said she had long grey hair, the other described it as being darker. One said she was in a white gown, the other said it was black. Does she have a wardrobe?!
On a whim, I dug out another picture of another great grandma, the little Choctaw woman who had raised my Dad. I've always felt some special connection with her even though she passed away 25 years before I was born. The girls both agreed it very well could have been her.
I've been racking my brain trying to think of anything of hers that I might have in the house that would make her attach herself to it, and the only thing I can think of besides her picture, is a small teacup I keep on the coffee table in front of the sofa. Anyway, if it is her, I can't think of anyone I would rather be haunted by! =) She was supposed to have been an absolute angel here on earth, and maybe she just likes to drop in for visits!

Wow, Carrie!! That is really cool. I have a mental image of her in my mind... if you feel up to it, and can, scan her pic and send it to me. I be interested to know if what I see in my mind matches her pic.

It's kind of cute how she seems aware when someone sees her and she runs. Like "Oh! They shouldn't see me sitting here on the couch like this... better scoot!". =P

Do you suppose she has followed you throughout your life? Maybe she is a guardian angel?

Wow that's very interesting. Yes I would like to see the photo too! At least you have a nice ghost around instead of one wanting to cause trouble. It's comforting in my mind to think that a passed relative is around and watching.

I'll try to post the photos later this evening. I have one of her as an elderly woman, and one as a young bride (the dress was to die for, all tiny tucks and handmade lace!) She was a tiny little thing, about 4'10 with long black hair and huge brown eyes, very waif like. Her father was a missionary and her mother was Choctaw. Neat story about her death -- She gave no indication of illness, but one day she just suddenly wrapped herself in her little Indian blanket, laid down on her bed, and peacefully passed away. If ya gotta go, that would be the way to do it!
I've always felt she was a "guardian angel" for me, and I've occasionally had dreams about her through the years. Incidentally, about a year ago, Amethyst over at GS and I corresponded about Spirit Guardians (I think that was the term used). Anyway, she gave the name of my spirit guardian as Arabell -- Granny's name...Arabella!

Carrie's (great?) grandmother's pics---

Grandma's bridal pic... I didn't recognize this one. Precious pic though!

Now, this is the little lady I saw in Carrie's house!!!! =O! =O!

After seeing the pics, I wrote back to Carrie:

"OMG! My image of your gal is the same as the granny2 pic!!!!! Holy smokes! I see her with a little more profile, but I am confident that is her! The same cute little gramma body and everything. hehehe Let's see... she isn't the one that died in the bed, right? When I saw here earlier (in my mind), I saw it maybe from the view your sis would have been looking in the window. Now, I don't know if this will be right, or if I am influenced by the way my own living room is set up. When looking through the front window, the couch is to the right against the wall. Granny was sitting there, when she noticed your sis looking in, she turned her head left to look (at sis in the window), kinda panicked, turned her head back and took off going left (as you would be seeing this through the window)."
[**note to all: Here, I mean that she moved from the right of the room where the couch is, in the left direction - as Carrie's sis would be viewing it from the window]

Carrie wrote back:

About what the girls saw: Just exactly as you described! The sofa is on the right, and they could see right in. Amazing, huh?!

My reply to Carrie:

"Some other thoughts on the room.... between the end of the couch nearest the wall with the window they looked through, is an end table. On the far end of the couch and out slightly, facing the front window, is an upholstered chair. Coffee table is oblong and in front of the couch, but I can't be sure. It doesn't feel quite right." [**again, I was doubting myself for fear I was being influenced by the way our living room is set up.. lol]
"Was grandmother sitting in the middle of the couch, not so much at either end, but maybe a little closer to the window. Between the center of the couch and the arm nearest the window, but not right next to the arm. Does that make sense?"

Carrie's reply:

You are hittin' the nail on the head about lots of the ghostie stuff! I remember the thing about Liz's ghost! He hung out in the garage, didn't he? In my living room, I have the sofa against the wall, the oblong coffee table in front, and two old chairs angled on the other side of the coffee table.
I've been helping Mom move into another apartment (much better neighborhood, whew!) so I've got oodles of boxes of her breakables in my living room right now. When I can get those out, I'll take some pictures in there and send them to you so you can compare and see if you pick up on anything else!
