Should we send all ghosts, good or bad to the light? What about the ones that seem so comforting? Like a passed relative? Is it selfish to allow them to stay here? And I also wonder about those who do know they are dead but choose to stay. Should we force them to the "unknown?" How can we be sure that when they cross over, it will be to a better place?

I've debated with myself over this same thing Pandora, and I still can't come up with an answer. In some ways, it seems almost selfish to want to keep them around, but then maybe they are happier being around the living. I would think that was especially true of someone who was concerned with the well being of a loved one at their time of passing. Maybe they would feel better hanging around watching over things than in unfamiliar surroundings. Some people don't adapt well to change, heck, I don't! I can just imagine something like death disrupting my routine!
I'm also a firm believer that most (not all) spirits have the ability to come and go at will. For example, making their presence known when a loved one is in some sort of turmoil to give comfort, or even warning. Good question, I just wish I had a better answer.

This is the second attempt at posting this. The first one erred on me and I couldn't get the page back.

Good question Pandora.
I do think they should all move on. Good or bad. I think it is the natural order of things to move on into the next world. I think some spirits come back (I think I might be being visited by my babchi(grandmother) on my Mom's side) for one reason or other to visit but the ones who stay after death really should move on.
I do think it's selfish to want the good ones to stay on. I really think they all will be better off on the other side. And if they need to come back it seems they should be able to.
This is only my opinion. I'm not so egocentered to think I know what's true or not. I try to keep my beliefs flexible and open so I don't chance blocking out the truth.

This is a tough one. =)

This is a tough question. As for me, I don't make it my job to tell them what to do or where to go (whoa - that doesn't sound so friendly  ). While I agree it is the natural order of things to move on, I guess I don't feel comfortable telling them to go, unless they're making me uncomfortable, etc. - does that make sense? I don't "not send them" for selfish reasons; I just kinda 'flow with the universe', if you will. If they're meant to be here, let them. If, for whatever reason, it seems they shouldn't be here or need guidance, try to get them to go.

Those are just my thoughts; I really cannot say what is correct. =(

Tough one, but a good one!
I don't think there is any ghost "etiquette" when it comes to passing over or hanging on, especially since, as Pandora points out, there are some who know they have "passed on" yet choose to remain here with the living. My personal opinion (since you asked ;-) ) is that "they" (those more friendly, comforting "I know I'm dead" ghosties)choose to remain here because they have unfinished business here, like making sure those of us left behind "adjust".

As for the across the board question of "all ghost's" I think that yes, they should all go to the light good, bad, or otherwise. It's the next level of "being" for them. Since I belive in reincarnation I would classify "the light" as the place where a ghost would be where he/she must decide to do it over again or elevate to the next level. I think some people have referred to this place as the "in between place".

As for knowing whether the light is a good thing or not, I think that over all it os a good place. But I also believe that that which scares us (and the ghosties for that matter) creates a sense of insecurity and raises doubt and speculation. I miyself would be unlikely to want to walk into the light if I saw a blinding white light, the edges of shadows, heard familiar yet unfamiliar voices and saw hands trying to reach for me.....that would seem like hostile territory! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think ghost's hold on to a part of their living self, their emotions, and since they are now unable to communicate through normal and accepted channels they can't ask questions of the living to verify whether or not this light is friend or foe... does that make any sense? =\
Anyway, that's my take on the matter.
