My brother and I used to spend summers with my Grandparents in Virginia. After I graduated and got a job, he continued to go down there for the summers. This happened on one of those summers when he was in his later teens.
My grandparents live on a dirt road about 2 1/2 miles off the main highway. Along this twisty road live various relatives and families that have been there for generations. At dusk, my brother decided to walk to my cousin's house to spend the night - they live about 1 mile away. The sun drops quickly behind the mountain down there so about halfway through his walk it got very dark. The property at this point is owned by a rich family that had a few extra houses built (back when my mom was little) to house sharecroppers and their families - at this point they are vacant and usually you don't pay much attention to them. He was just passing one of those houses when he noticed that the road was shinning white - he looked up and there was no moon. Just then something caught his eye in the old house - a light was on (like a candle or small flashlight) in and upstairs room. The light was moving from room to room and was coming down the stairs to the ground floor. The hair stood up on the back of his neck and he bolted (before it could reach the outside door) the rest of the way to my cousins'.

By morning common sense had taken over so he and my cousin decided to ask Mr. H if he had rented out the old house. Mr. H was stunned because he hadn't rented out the old place and they all walked over to see if anyone had been messing around on his property. Once they reached the old house, my brother could see why Mr. H was so stunned because all the windows in that house were boarded up. Even if someone had been in the old house, my brother couldn't have seen a light. Mr. H walked away muttering something about crazy city folk. :crazy:
