Crocodiles tear apart Thai suicide woman

BANGKOK, Thailand (Reuters) -- A Thai woman killed herself by jumping into a pit of more than 100 crocodiles, shocking crowds of onlookers at a Bangkok reptile farm.

The woman, 40, climbed a two-meter high fence and jumped into a concrete enclosure at the Famut Prakarn Crocodile Farm on the outskirts of the Thai capital, a tour guide who witnessed the event said Sunday.

A crocodile dragged the woman into a pond and several animals swarmed over and tore her body apart.

"She did not cry or scream when she was bitten," Tanet Virayaporn, the tour guide, told Reuters.

"It happened so quickly. Nobody could do anything."

Police said the woman had left a suicide note in which she complained about her husband and apologized to family members.

Hundreds of people were visiting the crocodile farm, a popular tourist attraction, when the woman committed suicide.

Gosh what an awful way to die!! =(

I saw this also, very sad. Although I feel for this woman who took her life, and her family, I also can't imagine how shocked and helpless the people in the park felt. I can't imagine having to watch something like that and knowing there is nothing you could do to stop it. I'm sure they will re-live that scene quite a few times in their lives. =(

I can't imagine being in the head space to think that THAT was the way to die?!

While I feel for this woman, her family and the poor innocent bystanders one thought comes to mind. Of all the ways to kill yourself why oh why would you choose that?!?!?!!?!?!!?!

Why would you want to have innocent people witness this?
I'm sorry for her family and all the farm visitors that day! =(

OMG! =O! I have been to that reptile farm. It's very popular. What an awful way to die. I guess she wanted to go out in a big way.

It's a very strange experience watching someone commit suicide. You don't know what you should be thinking or feeling. At least I didn't.

Just my tow cents here... I don't feel sorry for the woman that committed suicide. I guess she thought that was right. But I don't think she should have put all though innocent onlookers through that. They were there just to enjoy the day out with their families but were subjected to the horrific final act of someone's life

Suicide can be a way to punish the living as well as end your own pain. You have to wonder...did she think she would be considered heroic or did she think people would finally know how bad her husband really was.

It is amazing how people can rationalize their actions.

Whatever the case, I think she saw as a sure way to die. She was right.
