SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- A jury Wednesday found David Westerfield guilty of kidnapping and killing 7-year-old Danielle van Dam, whose nude body was dumped near a desert road last winter.

I saw that this afternoon. I'm so glad that they found him guilty. It still makes me so sad for the little girl and her family. What makes people do these things? How do they get such sickness in their minds?

I have been amazed at the lack of emotion Westerfield has displayed at this trial. The creep did not even blink when the guilty verdict was read. That guy just had "monster" written all over him, and I'm amazed it took the jury as long as it did to convict him.
That poor little girl never had a chance, it is just so sad.

I hope he gets the death penalty. I don't want to spend all that tax payer money to pay for his life in prison. He's not worth it.

I hope he gets the death penalty, as well. My grandfather used to be a sheriff's deputy and the one thing that has remained the same is that inmates have zero tolerance for those who hurt children in anyway. So if that jerk gets life instead, what hell it will be!

I agree with MssGrrl. I hope he gets life. It will be worth every penny for him to suffer everyday for hopefully a long life.
