I have noticed that lately I have been watching a lot of older movies. There is something special with the old ones that is missing these days. I watched and am amazed at the emotion in them. I don't understand why movie makers think they have to have nothing but blood, and gore, and constant violance and action to get people to watch. I love old movies like Meet me in St. Louis, and How the West was won, Gone with the wind. I find that I adore Jimmy Stewart. He is so charming! The movie Shenendoah has been on as well. Such Gems!

I love old movies too! I'll stop whenever I can to watch the old Doris Day movies [Embarrassed] . They just don't make movies, or movie stars, like they used to! The last year I taught, the day before Christmas vacation, I rented "It's a Wonderful Life" and showed it to my group of junior high juvenile delinquents. There was not a dry eye in the room! The principal was worried something had happened when he saw my aid and all of these kids crying at lunch time! [Laughing]
I love Jimmy Stewart!
One of the "newer" movies that came out a few years ago reminded me of the feel of some of my old favorites. "Return to Me" with David Duchovny was not a hit at the box office, but is a real favorite of mine. If you haven't seen it, rent it! It is a lovely movie -- a real chick flick! It could have been made forty years earlier with Doris Day and Cary Grant!

[Jumper] [Jumper] I love Gone With the Wind!! [Jumper] [Jumper]

That movie is one of my all time favorites. I've read the book tons of times and have the movie on video. It never gets old. Did you know that the first time it ever played for the public was at a little movie theater in my city. The Fox Theater. They didn't even have a musical score for it at the time and the people that saw it had payed to see a different movie and were given the suprise of being the first to see Gone With the Wind. The theater is still there but it's closed and fighting for it's life. Nobody wants to spend the money to fix it up and they want to tear it down.

Another of my favorites is To Kill A Mockingbird. I love the book. I can't even count how many times I've read it and I love the movie. I just adore Gregory Peck, which reminds me of another favorite, Roman Holiday.

Jimmy Stewart-The Greatest Show On Earth!!! Vertigo!!!

I loooove old movies. I think they are great. They didn't rely on special effects, firebombs, nude women, gore, etc.... .
Ever see Arsenic and Old Lace? I could go one for weeks with all those good movies.
Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, Maureen Sullivan, Humphrey Bogart, etc.. same with all those wonderful actors.
All the those great stories that have been done over dozens of times.
I've got my own little DVD collection of old movies. You can get them real cheap usually (under $10). Sometimes you can get them in packs by actor, director or genre.

There are a bundle of old movies that are just great!! I have always loved Katherine Hepburn!! She is such an Icon!! I absolutely loved her in "On Golden Pond". That was so bittersweet!
I saw Arsenic and Old Lace as a play in high school, but never saw the movie! Guess I'll have to try that one!! [Smile] Thanks, Nakis, for reminding me of all these great stories that people tend to forget. Cool viewing, and low priced, too!! Can't beat that!!

I love to watch movies that Alfred Hitchcock made. They are so much better then the mystery and horror movies today. My personal faves are Rope, Vertigo, Pyshco, Rear Window. And anything with Jimmy Stewart in it!

[Toothy Grin] Old movies are the best.I love the movie The Grapes Of Wrath. I rented it a few years ago when my boys were teenagers and I told them they were going to watch it with me,if they ever wanted to eat again.Of course when they found out it was in black and white they were really thrilled. It was funny because after about 5 min. they were quiet and actually watching the movie. When it was done they even thanked me and told me it was good. When I told my oldest son that Steinbeck wrote other stories he soon became a big fan and (shock, shock) read several of his books.I also love Doris Day movies ,war movies, prison movies and nun movies(wanted to be one ,even though I wasn't Catholic becaused I liked the outfit,go figure!!!)It's kind of refreshing not to hear swearing, see people screwing every 10 minutes and to have a movie with a plot. The best thing about movies today is Mel Gibson (yummy)but I also had and still have a huge crush on Gregory Peck (still alive I hope?)See you later. Greg Peck ? Yeah ... he's still around . Saw a tv show honoring him , PBS I think . Lifetime Achievement Awards.
They had the girl who played " Scout " , his daughter in To Kill a Mockingbird in the audience - all grown up now ! Peck said it was his favorite movie . The man has integrity .

Thanks Mark,
Glad to hear Gregory Peck is still alive. On of our local radio stations plays a game called alive or dead? and they give you a list of celebrities and you have to guess. It seems easy but give your friends a list of 10 celebs and ask them ,most will get at least half wrong.Bye Ghostlooker [Nanner Man]
