I know I'm probably gonna drive you guys nuts with all this creepy hospital stuff LOL! But you know abandoned hospital hauntings are my passion! Anyway...there is the second hospital that I've been drawn to..the abandoned Laurel General Hospital. This one is even older than the Charity, but not as strong energy-wise..still it does have a good bit of energy there and we checked it out back last December while we were in Mississippi. We were able to access the stairway from the outside door and go inside..but, unfortunately, the unit hallways were in a state of utter decay and absolutely did not allow us to go any further than the doorways where we got our pics. In the newer part of the hospital it was locked and we couldn't get into that part. We might have been able to cross through the basement/morgue but that place was so dark and dank and utterly creepy that we decided to pass on that idea. Anyway, I've read on a couple of haunted places sites that the spirits of two little girls haunt this hospital...that was verified by info from someone who commented on the Charity Hospital site. So this hospital acutally has been reported as haunted, as I originally suspected.

Please check out this picture of the hospital when it was first built http://www.onestepbeyond.ws/urbanex/exploration/index.php?display=Laurel%2C%20MS%20-%20General%20Hospital%2FLGH00.jpg[/URL] and tell me what you see in the front doorway there. This picture caught my eye from the time I first saw it.

The figure in the doorway has a very hourglass-like, female shape. Oh, this is a great photo. Now I'm curious, is this place guarded by a security agaency of any sort or can you just walk on in? I, too, am very intrigued by abandoned hospitals (an orphanages, and prisons). I think your interest is very cool!

I noticed the white ecto-type mist in the doorway of the hospital from the first time I laid eyes on this pic. After I've looked at it closer, it seems almost like a female figure..a young female with long hair..I can even see the outline of the face. I'm not one to pick faces and images out, but this one just jumped right out at me.

And no, this place has no security whatsoever. In this small town noone seems to care at all about these abandoned hospitals..you can just walk right in, if you so desire. Did you look at the rest of the pics we took of this hospital and the ones we were able to get inside? You might get some impressions from them.

It was interesting , 'tho...while we were standing outside the hospital taking pictures these little kids from the neighborhood rode by on bikes and I heard one of them say to the others ; "That's the scary house! There's ghosts in there!". It made me go ; "Hmmmmm..".

I got the same thing from the photo, a figure of a woman. These are really cool places. I betcha these would be great places for EVP's.
Was this by any chance ever used as a facility for Confederate veterans?

In picture #22, does it look like someone is standing at the end of the hall?

I haven't had a chance to look at all of the pics yet, but I did check the one you have posted above. I do see where it looks like a female figure, but the scale of the figure is bigger than it should be for a person. Hmm. I also have to wonder if it isn't the bricks leaching. [Confused]

I do love the pic though! This one looks like a ticky-tacky little prison! hehe These places are very fascinating! [Wink]

Yes I also noticed that the size of the anomaly is over-sized for a human in contrast with the rest of the building. When I first saw this picture last Decemeber I was immediately drawn to the white "Fog" in the doorway...it was just a mist. It's only been lately that I've made the image of a female out of it. If you look closer you can also see what looks like agonized faces in the mist...so maybe it's many things...maybe it's all the impression that ones own sensitivites make of it. Maybe it's nothing at all. Still pretty interesting to wonder about it, though.

Here at the hospital I work at I had a very strange experience one day. When I first started working here, about 8 years ago, our offices were housed across the street from the hospital, in an old nurse's dorm simply referred to as "The North Annex". The building had been built in 1912, it was 3 stories high, had no provisions for handicapped employees and had heating ducts covered by thick plastic due to the risk of asbestos exposure. No nurses had lived here since the mid 1940s. The whole time I worked there I heard "Oh this building's slated to be torn down next year". No one ever came to clean or take care of maintenence because why waste energy on something that would be soon torn down. One day, while working through lunch, I received a phonecall. I walked over to the desk to answer it, not bothering to sit down, just kind of leaning on my elbow on the desk while still kind of standing. I was wearing a skirt and felt quite distinctly someone tugging on the hem of my skirt. I turned around, but I already knew, no one was there, I was alone in my own office. It reminded me of the way an impatient toddler would try to get someone's attention. I looked down the hall and saw I was very much alone. I mentioned it to another gal who'd worked in the building 20+ years. She claimed to have experienced similar things and she felt strongly that the spirit of a young child inhabited the building. But to the best of anyone's knowledge, no kids had officially lived there. Eventually the building was demolished (around 1999) but I think about the building and it's spirit rather fondly.
