Here at the hospital I work at I had a very strange experience one day. When I first started working here, about 8 years ago, our offices were housed across the street from the hospital, in an old nurse's dorm simply referred to as "The North Annex". The building had been built in 1912, it was 3 stories high, had no provisions for handicapped employees and had heating ducts covered by thick plastic due to the risk of asbestos exposure. No nurses had lived here since the mid 1940s. The whole time I worked there I heard "Oh this building's slated to be torn down next year". No one ever came to clean or take care of maintenence because why waste energy on something that would be soon torn down. One day, while working through lunch, I received a phonecall. I walked over to the desk to answer it, not bothering to sit down, just kind of leaning on my elbow on the desk while still kind of standing. I was wearing a skirt and felt quite distinctly someone tugging on the hem of my skirt. I turned around, but I already knew, no one was there, I was alone in my own office. It reminded me of the way an impatient toddler would try to get someone's attention. I looked down the hall and saw I was very much alone. I mentioned it to another gal who'd worked in the building 20+ years. She claimed to have experienced similar things and she felt strongly that the spirit of a young child inhabited the building. But to the best of anyone's knowledge, no kids had officially lived there. Eventually the building was demolished (around 1999) but I think about the building and it's spirit rather fondly.
