Hi y'all I heard a voice while I was in the bathtub calling out my name. It was just a Mary and it came from the dining room. No one was home but me and the dogs. My female dog heard it as well cause she jumped up to an alert status and slowly went to go look with her ears raised.
No one was there. It happened between 2:30 and 3:00 pm. I told my mom about it and she said the same thing happened to her at her house around the same time. It was a womans voice for both of us. Strange.....

Mary, I think this is a fairly common paranormal phenomenon. I know in one of the houses I lived in with my parents, my father and I would often hear a woman's voice calling us from downstairs when no one else was at home. I've heard of it happening to others, too.
Could it be a female relative that has passed away? It certainly makes you sit up and take notice!

this has happened to me several times- one it was my father who had passed. i was just drifting off to sleep when he called my name and startled me. the other couple of times were a little weird. in both it was a female voice but did not call me- it talked to me. once it was about art amd the next time it intruded and told me to move to the beach, it was odd- a voice in my head that was not me. later after some research i found that this happens and it is a higher self communication- i'll tell ya- it does sit you down!

that last time I heard my name called I was wide awake and it was the pastry chef's voice. I chalked that one up to extreme wishful thinking. he was on vacation in south carolina and I was home just doing nothing.

anyway- I think it is rather common but it can be unnerving!!!

Yep, I've had the same thing happen. Weird! In fact, all of us in this house have had it happen. It's not always your name either.... Mare had something say "YEAH!!" once and I had something say "shut up". I was alone in the house for a week the time I heard 'shut up'... and I wasn't even saying anything to myself when it said that!

In my last place I can't count how many time my name was called. In different voices. With many different inflections. I woke up so many times saying "what???" to someone calling my name. Sometimes it was sweet and soft. Sometimes alerting and commanding. Sometimes in voices of people that I know.
Sorry I can't answer why. I used to demand that if you're going to keep waking me up calling my name then at least let me know what you want!!!
Sometimes I used to wake up talking to someone.
I think the reasons that they do this are as many as the reasons live people do things.

Sundog, maybe he was thinking about you. And it manifested as his voice. Maybe.

Oddly enough, the last time this happened to me, it was here in my home and it was my Dad's voice. This was just a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was so odd because there was a commanding, almost harsh inflection to it, which Dad seldom used in life. I thought it was some sort of warning, but for the life of me can't think of why.
Maybe he just thought that would get my attention.
