I guess all I can say is that I'm just lucky that back in 'my day', things like this didn't happen when I was in school.

I strongly believe that this freak started his rampage on Sept.11.
There was a man being interviewed by Connie Chung last night who was shot while closing the liquor store he works at. The details are the same and this happened on Sept. 14th.
I do think it's a freak, a terrorist, a psycopath.
He dropped a tarot card (the card of death) with a message written on the back that read "Dear Policemen, I am God"
I hope they catch him soon!

What's so terribly frightening is I have a friend who lives in Manassas, Virginia where one man was shot. I worry so much for my friend now and can't even begin to imagine what kind of fear he's going through.

Another thing that concerns me, is that they found a tarot card with the Death symbol on it. The death card stands for rebirth or a new beginning. I'm afraid that people will associate these cards with this killer and think that they are evil.

You know what's ironic...until last year, no one really paired terrorist up with anything except overseas happenings ie: the IRA.
As far as people having a negative view on tarot cards, if people already know about them and what they are used for, they have their opinion formed. If they don't know, then I don't think this would make a big difference. Just like any kind of religion as people can use the tarot to live by just like one would with a religion. That's why I used that example. (I had a BF that wouldn't make a decision without them. Some people don't make a decision without hearing from 'god' first.)

One of the news shows on FOX made the comment that the Death card is actually a symbol of new beginnings and re-birth. They also gave the information that U.S. snipers in the Vietnam War left behind poker cards. I have a feeling this guy just put his own twist on things. I believe when caught, this guy will turn out to be some crazy military wannabe.

This guy is crazy alright and I for one don't think he's working alone. I think he has a partner or trainee. Just the feeling I get. The newest shooting is just insane. There was a State Trooper 100 yards away working an accident scene. Just craziness. I also think the guy or guys are getting a little to brave for their own good. Of course as usual I'm having issues w/ the media coverage. There are just some things that no one outside of law enforcement should know and the one piece of physical evidence they have everyone around the world knows about. I just hope they catch the guy soon and put an end to this madness. While watching CNN today they had someone from the FBI (the name is escaping me) saying this person or persons may be preparing for a showdown with law enforcement and that is part of the reason they chose a victim within 100 yards of a State Trooper.

I would have to agree with you miranda. I think that this guy(s) are getting to cocky and they will make a mixtake soon. I hope! But I think they just might target a cop next.

Exactly. And that's the beauty of it. Getting braver and being less attentive to their own securities, they'll get caught much easier. I've felt from the beginning he/they will go down in a hail of bullets. I just hope they don't take out more people/cops doing it.

As for the tarot card.... I know this was considered to be a media leak, right? As sick as it was for him to do, this evidence will only become *good* evidence once they match fingerprints and/or a hand-writing analysis is done and proves to be a match. I don't see how else it could be held against him as hard evidence???

From what I understand along with the tarot card he also left a shell casing, the one and only shell casing that they have found at any of the crime scene's. My ire with the news leak is that if they could ever get a suspect that that could have been used as a source of figuring out if they had the guy, since only the responsible party or parties and law enforcement would have known about it.

What is p*ssing me off regarding the news coverage. They report the chief of police says well at least the snipper is not targeting children and the boy gets shot. Now some moron on the news says..well he does not have a history of shooting people on the weekends!

This b*stard wants the coverage, the notariaty(spelling?) He is not stupid, he knows how to manipulate people's fears, the value in the randomness of the act as well as the similarites.

Yes, I agree that this guy is a trained sniper, and probably military. My gut feeling is that it is only one guy. I think he left the Tarot Card and the shell casing behind just to irritate law enforcement. I am wondering if this guy knows about the Death card not really meaning death in a literal sense? I am thinking that he knows only very little about Tarot, and chose the card for the word "Death" on it. That, along with his writing on the card, I think he is on a power trip that only grows larger with all of the media coverage. Worst of all, I fear that he will get more before he is caught. Scary thought!!!

I go back and forth on whether or not he is aware of the actual meaning of the Death card. On one hand I don't think so but then again with what he wrote I wonder if he does really know. Since he wrote about being God, it makes me wonder if he doesn't seem himself being transformed into something else with the shooting of the child. I have heard from veterans that the first killings was the hardest and after that it got much easier, and also that killing women and children was especially hard. I wonder if the shooting of the child was purposeful as to way to "transform" himself???? I'm just speculating here and as for the veterans (Vietnam) these are just a few men I know personally and by no means am I speaking for every veteran. I also fully believe this person has some sort of military/law enforcement background. What sticks out in my mind is that these shootings thus far have only occured during the week, so is this a person or persons who are away during the weekend, maybe Army reserves????

I'm thinking this guy is not an actual member of the military but more of a militia type. I don't know about you guys, but I have met a lot of really unbalanced folks who CLAIM to be former military. The best example I can think of goes back to my single days when every other creep I met tried to tell me he was an ex Navy Seal. Tip for single gals: If you ever have someone tell you this, ask what class they were in. Only someone with actual training will have a ready answer, and you will impress the heck out of them, thinking that you know what you are talking about. The "wannabes" will not have a clue.
These are the type of guys that the military would not accept. They think being in a military group is some sort of glamourous position. I know this sounds crazy, but there are a lot of these weirdos running around, and many of them are in these "militia" type groups, similar to Tim McVeigh.
He may or may not have had actual military training. He definitely has had practice with weapons, and is an accurate marksman. I agree that he doesn't have a clue about Tarot cards. I think it will really take him messing up before he is caught. I just hope it happens without any more innocent people losing their lives.

I agree that he does not know the real meaning of the death card. His claiming to be "God" and using the death card seems to me buttons he is pushing. God equals power over life and death, tarot cards equals evil and occult.
