I have 2 of James Van Praagh books and John Edwards book. I think that I enjoyed both authors equally. James Van Praaghs books are more spiritual growth type, which I'm not really interested in, but he does have very interesting readings in them which I really enjoyed. John Edwards book is mostly readings and is very fun. On the whole I think I'm more drawn to J.V.P. He just seems to me to be a very gentle person. I've seen both of their shows a couple of times and I think J.V.P. is the more talented medium. Not that I'm much of an imformed judge but he does seem to be able to translate what he see's and hears in a much more coherent fashion. John Edwards always seems to be jumping around. I also like J.V.P.'s interaction with people better, he's much more sympathetic and comforting to grief. It's not that Edwards isn't sympathetic but he's always moving around, which makes me nervous (personal pet peeve)and it seems very important to him to prove himself.

I was wondering what you all think of these two guys and which one are you drawn to?

I've heard of Van Praagh, but i've never seen him & i'm not one to sit down & read a book. John Edwards, I like.
The only thing I don't like is that He makes a fortune off of people to use his gift. I feel if you,ve been given a gift like that, it was to share, not for profit.
The last i'd seen, it was like $200. to get a reading with him, & if you take someone with you, that's an extra $100. per head. Before you know it, he'll be as expensive as Sylvia Browne.
I'd love a reading, but who's got that kind of money?

I believe they both are real; however, I believe they have different ways of communicating and maybe different levels of ability. Like everyone handles grief differently, it is possible that they must handle their gifts differently to keep their own sanity and stability. Some dish out compasion while others try to lighten situations.

As far as what is charged, you've got to remember that John is working out of New York where the cost of living is much more expensive. An appartment where I live that costs $500 a month could cost $2,000 in New York. That means if John were working in Cleveland, OH - his cost would only be $50. I'm sure that with his fame, he also has added expenses (staff and security) that other mediums don't have. I do give him a great deal of credit for putting himself (there are a lot of debunkers on his trail) on the line and raising awareness in others.

I have been to a seminar and seen James VP in person. And he is on a popular radio show here in Phoenix every few months. I like them both and have read books by both as well. But I am drawn more to James. James says that he and John are good friends.

I think both of them are extremely talented. I agree, James Van Prague does seem to have a more gentle, relaxed approach and seems to be a genuinely nice person.
However, John is just so nice to look at. [Wink] It could be that as he gets older he will not have that need to prove himself so much and will be a little more low key.

I had the opportunity to attend a conference this past weekend with James van Praagh. I witnessed
alive session where he brought messages to several people in the audience. It was wonderful.
He paired up with Brian Weiss, author of Master Masters, Many Lives.
