Being a nurse, I can say I'm very lucky to have a career where my workplace is pretty much always going to have some kind of paranormal activity. Working in hospitals, mental health facilities, residential facilties...all these places are hotbeds of paranormal energy and activity.

I have many stories of experiences in the workplace. I've seen things that defy any kind of rational explaination. Even people who were not believers in the paranormal before...after a short while on the job in a hospital, nursing home or mental health facility...they are converted to believers.

I actually saw what I firmly believe was a spirit energy at the hospital where I used to work..it was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. It was in the afternoon on 2nd shift and I was sitting in the break room with a coworker.

The breakroom door was open into the nurse's station. I saw what looked like the white tail of a lab coat come streaking into the nurses station..yet it had a black trail with it. I can't really describe it to this day...it was moving at a super-speed and it alarmed me because the first thing that popped into my mind was that something was wrong and there was an emergency. In my mind, it registered that form as a doctor..something about the white "Coattail"..and yet it was more..it was an image in my mind.

But what was so strange was that the hall was utterly quiet and calm and I heard absolutely no sound coming from that motion...like footsteps, the swish of clothing...nothing..which caused the hairs on the back of my neck to stand. I looked over at my coworker whose eyes were big as dinner plates and asked her ; "What was THAT?". She just shook her head and kept staring out the door. There was nothing and no one there. We both knew that we had just had an encounter with the unexplained. She said ; "Don't worry, you aren't going crazy, I saw it, too".

I got up and went out to the nurse's desk and looked all around up and down the corridors and there was no one anywhere around and there was no way anyone could have moved that fast..no one human, at least.

I told everyone I came into contact with that I had seen something totally strange and you would not believe the response I got! I heard from people on third shift who often would see what they described as "Little black tornados"...black vortices that would just streak by.

Call lights would come on in unoccupied rooms, food trays would fly off of the desk, patients would complain of small children coming into their rooms late at night and playing around, we would hear loud crashes on the hall..thinking that a patient had fallen..we would go running down the hall and find everyone asleep and tucked-into bed. We would smell the aroma of cherry pipe tobacco from out of nowhere...just all kinds of strange things.

That's just one workplace...I've had more experiences in others. Working in healthcare facilities definately brings it's share of the unexplained!

I've heard similar things from other people in the health care profession. Dinky Dave has had some great stories about his workplace also.
I think anytime there is a great deal of emotion in an environment some of that energy is bound to be left behind. I think that is why we have so much paranormal activity in places like hospitals, mental health facilities, etc...
It is great that your co-workers were open and honest about also experiencing these incidents!

I've theorized that spirit energies are attracted to hospitals and such places because of the high amounts of emotion there as well as people passing there. I mean, you have the whole gamut in a hospital...the joy of birth, the tragedy and devastation of unexpected trauma and death, the sadness of a terminal diagnosis...all the things these people inside those walls are feeling. I also believe many doctors and nurses who are incredibly dedicated to their work in life also continue after their passage to the next phase..they are still there in spirit.

Mental facilites...I worked at one and I can say that the energy there is much more sinister and dark, in general..very negative. I'd definately like to hear some experiences from Dave!
