Specifically, do you believe that in places like the World Trade Center, where people died long before their spirit was ready, that ghosts roam really soon after they've died, or do you think we'll hear stories of ghosts at the WTC site years from now. I live very near the house where the Heaven's Gate cult people killed themselves. There's no sense that spirits roam, although, in hindsight, I guess they were all ready to die and have no unfinished business here to deal with. What do you think?

I don't really know. With the World Trade Center I would think that the spirits of people who died would likely watch over family members. At that time there was such desperate concern for family and friends-who got out and who didn't- that the bond would be very strong and they would want to help those grieving. It's just a feeling I get, I think that there surely must have been many spirits from the other side to help the victims cross over. Whether or not the site would be or is haunted I don't know except that such a tragedy leaves a mark, perhaps the sadness we feel looking at it or maybe more.

I agree with you about Heavens Gate, they were prepared to die.

I really don't have an answer to this either. I have read a few accounts of things going on near the site in Pennsylvania. I agree with Renee that more than likely, the souls at the World Trade Center crossed over, or are watching over loved ones. However, I would not be surprised in the least to hear of haunting activity taking place there. I feel that perhaps given the amount of time elapsed and the nature of the tragedy that most people working near there would not publicly discuss anything paranormal they have witnessed. In the next 5-10 years we may hear something about this.
I'm not sure if it would be hours, days, months or years for a haunting to begin. It stands to reason that in places where a great tragedy has taken place that the strong emotions that are bound to be present would make an imprint.

I've visited 'Ground Zero' several times since 9/11/2001. The first visit was only a few weeks after the disaster.

The entire area is filled with so much emotion. It's difficult to say if those emotions originate from those past, or those left behind.

One thing is for certain. The area does hold quite a bit of energy. I would not be the least bit surpised to hear of hauntings in the future. Especially if the city decides to rebuild on that ground.

Very often, when death is sudden and unexpected as it was on that day, people sometimes have a difficult time realizing they are no longer in the living world. Eventually they do realize their place, but it does take time. During this time, hauntings are common.

Welcome to SpiritKeep, Jonathan. Glad you'e joined us! [Smile]

I agree, that because death came so suddenly - as in the case of 9/11 and many others - it may be difficult for some to even realize they've passed. [Sad] Therefore, I'd think it's possible for them to 'roam' from the moment of death on. It would not surprise me to hear of haunts at the WTC site.

Good question, Juliebelle. [Smile]

Hi Jonathan, welcome.

I have to agree with you. There is quite a lot of energy down there. How can there not be, with the whole worlds focus, thoughts and prayers concentrated on that area. There are already reports of activity and sightings but nothing that you can really investigate with out doubting what you are seeing and hearing...images and feelings are still to vivid to be objective. But I do believe that some people who were trying desperately to contact loved ones and survive are still trying to get home.

Personally, that is one sight that is still way to fresh for me to even contemplate investigating any time soon.

Juliebell, that is a good point about about the Heavens Gate people wanting to die and not having unfinished business. But there are plenty of hauntings of suicides so who can say for sure.
