My boyfriend called me this morning in a state of shock. Ever since our neighbor's father passed away last June, Jimmy has been going over to their house to let their dog out during the day.

Now mind you, Jimmy is very routine oriented (ok he is totally compulsive) He lets the dog out, changes the water, gives Jesse her cookie, locks the back door and goes out the front door and locks that.

This morning, he goes through the routine, locks the front door and as he is going down the driveway he decides to put a large flower pot full of roses back in its spot on the porch. It had been moved because the house was just resided. He turns his back on the porch, picks up the pot, carries it to the porch and almost drops it cause the door is wide open! Ok, he knows he locked it but he figures maybe he imagined he did...or he did it but the contractor screwed up rehanging the door, or someone is hiding in the house. He went through the house, looking in all the closets, rooms, cabinets...nothing. He closes the door from the inside, locks it, pulls on it, can't open it without undoing the locks and turning the knob. He leaves it locked, goes out the back door, walks to the front of the house in time to see the door actually swing open! [Shock]

He went back in the house, and said a prayer and told Ralph, the deceased, please don't do this any more I have to back to work! Then he left a note to Ralph's daughter, asking her to put Ralph's chair back on the porch, where it has been since his death. It had been moved for the residing job.

The door remained closed, and Ralph's chair is back on the porch. Eva is amused that her father made himself known. She has been wanting a sign since his death. [Smile] Jimmy is less amused, but he does find it funny that I go out of my way to find something like this and it happens across the street. [Oh Well]

When a friend of mine's father died his wife would come into the kitchen and the radio would be playing and his coffee cup would be on the table. This happened until she sold the house. They sometimes like things to stay the same as when they were alive. This has nothing to do with your story except it tell of habit. My husband works in a grain mill which is over a hundred years old. When he first started there they were still useing the old grain belts. These belts had to be greased often and parts of the mill had to be oiled. When my husband was working as an oiler and a miller he would go to oil the rollers and they would already be oiled. The man that was the oiler before Frank was burned to death in his car.Frank has always said it was him who was oiling the rollers. One night I went to pick Frank up from work and I was setting in full view of the parking lot I saw what at the time I thought was Frank coming from the building. The man walked across the lot and just disapered. There was no place he could have went that I wouldn't have seen him go. Jeannie your story gave me chills. [Shock] Poor Jimmy, I think I would be pretty creeped out. I would have thought burglar first thing and high tailed it home to call the police. eeeeek. It is rather funny how we look for these things and they happen when least expected to some one else. [No!]

Jeannie I think that story is wonderful! I always enjoy hearing about loved ones making themselves known to the living [Toothy Grin] Yeah, I know I'm a little strange [Razz]

Anyway Eva had been wanting a sign and she sure got it! I strongly feel that love is the most powerful force in this universe and it has the ability to break through all barriers known to man.....even death! When you look at it from that point of view, it makes your story so much more exciting and happy. Thanks for sharing it with us [Smile]

Amazing stories! Did the dog seem to react any differently while this was going on?

Littleirish, wow 2 great stories and Renee, Jimmy is a black belt and he went through that house ready to spring into action.

The dog was very mellow yesterday, but today she was acting up. Jimmy lets her out after his morning run driving a school bus, she was fine and the door stayed closed and locked.

He lets her out again before he leaves for the afternoon run but this time she would not go out and was restless. He had to leave so he locked up, crossed the street, got into the bus and takes one last look behind him [Eek!] The door is wide open!

He runs across the street, reminds Ralph that 1. he has to go to work and 2. Unlocked open doors are a security issue for his daughter.

He told me that he did not speak to Ralph this morning so I told him to add that to his routine. Eva called to let us know the door was locked when she came home.

What concerns me is that after his death, Jimmy bought Ralph's 18 year old Monte Carlo for me to learn how to drive. Ralph loved that car and the first time I sat in that car, I had a mental conversation with Ralph asking him to please do not appear to me in this car. I am petrified enough behind the wheel without the added shock of him appearing in the rearview mirror. (I watch way to many horror movies) My brother is now teasing me that I now have 2 back seat drivers.

We shall see! [Cool]

Jeannie when you get in the car tell Ralph that if he wants to keep his beloved car intact that he should keep his appearences invisible.Explain to him how nervis you are and that you don't need anymore distractions.Tell him he can have the car on Sunday.[lol] He sounds like a careing person so I think he will understand.Good luck. By all means, do speak to Ralph to lay the ground rules but try to calm down and think of Ralph as you car guardian. He'll probably want to protect you as well as his beloved car.

Thanks guys...believe me, Ralph knew (knows) how I feel about driving. We all believe he is happy we have the car and he would never intentionally do any thing to scare me.

Anyway, Eva was home all day and the door remained closed. [Smile]

Wow, Jeannie - that's a good one! I think it would have freaked me out a bit, too! That's good that Jimmy talked to Ralph... even though it happened again. [Shock] Maybe Ralph is a bit of a prankster... ?

I like yours too, Bonnie! Very interesting!

If there isn't any objection, I'd like to add both of your stories to the true ghost stories section on the SpiritKeep site! [Smile]

Kell thanks and yes you can add it to the Spirit Keep site.

Ralph did have a sense of humor. And I have to confess that many times over the years, when Jimmy was being really compulsive I would tell him that if I passed first I would come back and move his pencils, play with the lights or one of a million things that would make him nuts. He is kind of a good target for stuff like that. [Laughing]

I think it is Ralph's way of making sure Eva has someone on this side looking out for her. A little extreme because that is Jimmy's nature to worry about everyone he cares about. It is very endearing; when he is not being a total buttinsky [Roll Eyes]

Oh, Jeannie!!! That is some story!! I am so glad that the chair got moved to the porch again... that is probably exactly what he wanted!! The thing with your having his car does seem kind of eerie... but, if he is there to protect you and the car, that would be great!!! Maybe you need a bumper sticker that says "Ghost on Board"..... LMAO!!!

That gives me an idea... I think I might make a license plate holder for our store that says "Ghost on Board"!! There may be others with a similar situation!!! LOLOL Would you mind if I used this idea... kind of as a springboard from your story? (But, I wouldn't want you to feel obligated to buy one... not at all.... I just think it might make something humorous to offer in the store.) Let me know what you think, OK! [Smile]

Bonnie, that story of yours kinda brings up the chill bumps!!! I can understand why your husband has a 'helper', since this guy died so tragically.

Thanks so much for sharing your stories, ladies!!! As Kell mentioned, I think that they make some fine additions to our growing Ghost Story area on the SK site!!!
