I don't know if anyone here is from the Mobile, Alabama area but I have an experience to share that happened there. On a psychic/sensitive level I must say it was one of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever had in a location.
Ok..here is the scenario. I went to Mobile for the weekend with three friends. I'd never been before and knew nothing about the area but two of our group were originally from there and were going to show us around.
We started off with some great seafood at the "Oyster bar" on the water and then moved on to downtown to check out some clubs. We were having lots of fun..eventhough I'm not a drinker I like to play pool and listen to music and dance. This was close to Christmas on a Sunday and the bars were pretty quiet and laid back..only a handful of people out.
We'd already been to a couple of clubs when we went into this one place called "The Paradise Lounge"...it may have a different name now, I'm not sure. It was a very old building with high ceilings...the bar was up front and there was a big room in the back where they sometimes had dancing and you had to go into that room to get to the restrooms.
We stepped into that room to go the restrooms and I felt every hair on my body stand on end with electricity..it was utterly unsettling. I also noticed these huge "Vent" things in the brick wall with ashes around them. My friend told me ; "Oh yeah, you'll LOVE this place ,it used to be a crematorium!". I couldn't believe it! People partied in this room with these crematorium oven vents that still had these gritty grey ashes piled up around them. It's no lie, believe it or not. It was macabre to say the least!
I was still feeling very uneasy even after we got into the restroom. I felt like we had others in there with us...like we were being watched. It made my skin crawl and I felt dizzy and filled with something like "Vertigo". The "Fight or flight" reaction was going off inside me but I tried to calm myself down and stay cool because my friends were noticing nothing strange there whatsoever.
We went back up front to the bar area *whew* and my friend started telling how the bar was originally a civil war hospital, a regular hospital and then later a hotel, a crematorium then a bar over the years. The energy was rather calm in the front of the building...but that back room was something else!
Another friend later asked me to accompany her to the restroom and I flatly said ; "No I won't go back there again, no way". She kept on begging and I finally relented, against my better judgement. Almost as soon as I stepped over the threshold I felt a force-field pushing against me..it made my whole body shake..it took all my effort just to put one foot in front of the other. Less than halfway through the room it overwhelmed me to the point that I turned and ran out. I Didn't go back in again. Whatever it was had no affect on my friends whatsoever.
I asked the bartenders if they had experienced anything "Weird" back there and they said "Oh YES!". They told me how they would hear footsteps walking around and boxes being moved after closing time..they would go and check and no one was there. One bartender said that back room creeped him out so bad that NEVER EVER went back there no matter what. He said he would go next door to use the restroom before he would go back there. They also reported seeing dark figures moving around..like shadows. Upstairs in the hotel part they also reported hearing loud noises.
I was very relieved to know that it wasn't "Just me" LOL!
I've always hoped that a paranormal investigative group would investigate there. The bartenders I talked to were more than willing to talk about the strange goings on there. It is definately worth checking into..the energy there is just UNREAL. I only wish I'd had a camera and a tape recorder!
