This reminded me of something I heard about quite a few years ago....there was this man who was looking into life after death as well. This man had one or a few (I am not sure about that?) people who were about to cross over laying on beds that were also a scale.
He stated that when the person crossed over, he felt the soul did indeed leave the body as the scale immediately went down a certain amount. Meaning that in some form or another even though our body dies, our soul continues in one manner or another. Does anyone else remember hearing about this a long while back? I'm sure I've forgotten some of the details, but that was it in a nutshell. Hmm maybe it was just an urban legend?? Regardless, I find this sort of thing very fascinating!

This experiment is different to the one that I recall hearing about a while back.
The one I remember was about a team who were allowing themselves to die, and would be left dead for a minute or so before being revived again. I can't remember the exact details of it, only that they were trying to find out what was after death and what the tunnel of light that people have reported seeing in NDE's really is.
There have also been studies conducted regarding the OBE and whether these experiments offered proof or not, due to the nature of the experiment, conclusive proof would remain in the mind of the believer or non-believer.
Such a challenge to the intellect, the reality of there being a life after death, or our spirit existing long after our body would mean people would have to start taking more responsibility for their actions and also start tapping into and partaking of religion. That is something many have closed hearts to.

I think I have heard about what you're talking about. I think I have it on 1 of the links pages on my site. Apparently within about 18 minute after death you loose more weight (a few grams) than you do in the few hours before you die. There is a certain amount of weight that cannot be explained. I think he tried this on about 6-7 people.

I think the film Flat Liners was inspired by a group of people who were trying to find out what happens when you die by allowing each other to flat line for a few minutes.

That is an interesting website. I only pulled it up for a few minutes and panned through several pages but it looks pretty interesting.
That's sounds interesting about the body loosing weight after dying. Einstien proved that mass is energy and energy is mass. The soul seems to be a form of energy we don't understand. It exists so it may have some sort of mass equivalent to it. Thus changing the body weight after death. Interesting.
