Okay, at the risk of sounding totally psycho, I've got a question for everyone. Sometimes when I lay down at night to go to sleep and all is quiet in the house, I will hear people talking like you would hear on a talk show on t.v. or especially on the radio. I have gotten up countless times to make sure the t.v. and all our radios are turned off, just to find out they are.

It's hard to explain except that it is always at least two people and they are talking to each other as far as I can tell. The worst part is the voices are loud enough to hear, but faint enough so that I cannot make out any words clearly. Well, sometimes I might catch one word, but that is it.

Funny thing is, this had stopped for a while, but now has started again. I'm not sure if there is significance to this or not. I do not go to bed at night thinking about it either....I'm usually too tired. I will just start hearing it.

Okay, after you've stopped laughing, have any of you ever heard of something like this before? Any clues as to what is going on?

Cindy, I know what you mean about this.... it has happened to me off and on throughout my life. I really don't have any idea what it could be, unless somehow we are sometimes able to pick up broadcasts in our brain??? So, if you are psycho, then so am I!! LMAO

I have heard of people with braces hearing music on them, kind of like they were an antenna, but I have never had braces... so I have no idea, but it sure seemed real at the time.

Can you tell if the sounds/voices are IN your head (no, not being silly here), or coming from elsewhere ?

If it seems to be more inside your head - it could possibly be Clairaudience[/URL].

Try recording. If something shows up on tape, you could set up a few recorders in different parts of your house so that maybe you could find out what is being said.

I had this happen just a few weeks ago, which I mentioned in another post. I was talking to my mother about it days later when she told me that in the house we had lived in that was so active, she had this happen frequently. She said it always sounded like two men.
In both cases, we couldn't make out the words being said, it was kind of a muffled noise.
Kell, Cindy's experience might be different from mine, but I felt it was very different from clairaudience. It didn't feel like something coming from "inside", it was literally like a muffled radio or television turned low, a physical sensation. In fact, I was on my way to turn the tv off, thinking that was it.
One thing I did notice, was that I was in a very relaxed, unstressed state, but very much aware of my surroundings. I'm glad other people experience this!

Oh wow! I feel so much better knowing that if I am crazy than I'm in good company [Wink] [Laughing]

Carrie you said it exactly right! It usually does sound like two men and it doesn't sound like it is coming from my head...more like it is a muffled radiostation in my room and it's always when I'm very relaxed.

Connie, I'd never thought about trying to record these voices...hmmm I may give that a try!

Kell, I will check out your link too and see if I recognize anything there as well.

This experience always makes me think of that little boy in the Sixth Sense who says "I see dead people", only maybe we're "Hearing dead people" [Eek! 2]

Okay, so now that we all have this thingy in common, how do we find out more about it and what the heck it is?

Cindy if you try the tape recorder and it says it's voice activated there voices may not turn the recorder on.I was trying to catch mine on tape but I had to leave the recorder on and taping. Bonnie

Okay, if the voices seem to have an external source, it wouldn't be clairaudience. But.... ! Sometimes I wonder if we're not able to hear the things we'd normally have to pick up on EVP. Maybe their voices have a wider range of sound that has been reported by those who study EVP. Or maybe some of us just happen to be able to hear into the lower range we're not supposed to be able to hear in (i.e. into their range). Does that make sense? [Nerd]

I'm thinking along those lines too, Kell. Maybe on occasion some of us are just on a different "frequency" and we are able to tune in.
This makes me think about a phenomenon that I've experienced on a few occasions, and I've heard of others experiencing also... the loud crashes that seem to come out of nowhere. I remember one time specifically being in my mother's bedroom talking to her and both of us hearing what sounded like every dish in her china cabinet being broken. We rushed to the dining room but nothing was out of place, looked all over the house and still couldn't find anything.
Are they in some way able to manipulate the environment, or our auditory senses? I wonder if any of the paranormal researchers have done any studies along these lines? [Nerd]

My thoughts are that they can somehow manipulate our auditory senses, but I don't know if there has been a study on it or not. We'll have to look around. [Wink]

Also, there are many times when something loud like that (the China breaking) is heard and everyone present *should* have heard it, but only one person does. [Nerd] For example, the time my father heard what sounded like someone throwing a basketball against the back door. He was totally shocked by the loud noise, but I was only 10 feet away and didn't hear a thing!

Which leads to another thing... If they can manipulate our senses during waking hours, I don't think it's much of a leap to think that they might be able to manipulate us while we're sleeping/dreaming. Afterall, while sleeping, one is quite vulnerable to the environment - all defenses are down.

Carrie and Kell you both might be onto something here! That would at least explain why some of us hear this and others don't. My family has stories as well where there could be two or three people in a room and only one person will hear a certain noise and the rest don't have a clue. I'll have to do some checking on this myself.

Hey I appreciate all your thoughts and input! Keep them coming...you got my brain working overtime too!

I used to hear this more often when I was a child. I remember hearing like the I Love Lucy show in the living room or some kind of comedy with a laugh track. I could hear the noise but couldn't make out any of the words. Or sometime I swear I could hear a news type program on. I wanted to get out of bed to see who was watching TV but knew that no one was. It was usually very late at night. And sometimes I could hear a radio playing but could never make out the song. I used to think it was my dental work! [Laughing] Remember how some people could hear the radio through their fillings?

We lived in a house years ago that was very active. I would be in the basement and I could hear Italian opera music, there was absolutely no way the sound was coming from anywhere else but in the basement. I would walk toward the sound and it was gone. I also was constantly being babbled to all night long every night. I would wake up every day and know a little bit more about the previous occupants. Kell you are right about the sleep susceptibility, I have always used the expression, "I dream them." Thankfully that hasn't happened on a regular basis since we moved out of that house in 1989.
