James and I just experienced the strangest thing! We were headed out to rent some videos tonight. Our neighborhood looked completely deserted -- no one in sight, no cars, no Christmas lights on, nothing!! We turn the corner, and I see a red looking, bright, very intense light, similar to a laser swoop from above and pass from James' left arm to his right. He saw it and asked if I had witnessed the same thing. He then tells me that just before we had gotten into the truck, he witnessed the same thing, only with a bright, intense, white light on the stump in our front yard. The light appeared, kinda "hovering", disappeared, and then repeated again. We looked for every logical explanation we could find and came up with nothing!
We had a good laugh, joking that we have been watching the SciFi channel too much, but this has us both baffled. Anyone have any ideas?
Just to add a little to the mystery, coming home earlier today, there were several Apache helicopters circling the area, which was pretty unusual. Nothing was in the sky, visible when we saw these lights. We're both scratching our heads! [Nutty]

Carrie, some of the stragest things happen to you. Are you sure you weren't seeing Rudolph out for a practice run? [Santa Grin]

More scary than the paranormal, are you sure it wasn't a laser scope from a real weapon?

LOL, Renee! We do have some things happen. The area we are moving to is known as a UFO hotspot, so we may come up with even more! Kathleen, the only semi-logical explanation we could come up with was similar to that. After seeing the helicopters, we wondered if the military may have been on maneuvers. James said that they do have laser technology and thought it possible that they had shown a laser into the truck as some sort of practice. We don't know if the lights on the stump were coincidental, or what. He said they were very different from a flashlight, very intense and much brighter. My view of the stump was blocked, so I didn't get to see those.
After it happened, we stopped the vehicle and looked around. No one was stirring. The house across from us is vacant, and we are surrounded by elderly people. If it wasn't something to do with those helicopters, I can't imagine what caused it. [Confused]

A UFO story is definately more interesting! WHen I was about twelve, my family, several eighbors, and myself saw green glowing objects in the summer sky. They (there were several) went up and down and side to side very fast, would stop and hover. Since we lived in the proximity to three air force bases, one of our neighbors who worked on one of the bases, called the sighting in. It was exciting. It was probably experimental craft - but in the sixties - it was just plain excitng!

The area that James was raised in and we are moving back to is in a very rural part of East Texas. This particular community is known to have witnessed several UFO incidents (I think several might be military related). James and one of his friends, in seperate locations, both witnessed one incident back in the early 90's. This particular area is just a little weird!
The whole UFO thing is fascinating and it does make you think!
I even wondered if what we saw might have been some sort of orb, but I've never heard of one being bright red?! The light was about 3inches in diameter, so it was much larger than any conventional laser scope. This one is just a mystery!

I have heard sighting stories over the years from people that live in remote areas in North America. When you live in a quiet rural area, you tend to notice strange lights and movement in the night sky. I lived in a rural setting in Northern British Columbia for ten years. At night all you could heard outside was the beating of your own heart. The Northern Lights were so mystical, you could hear them swishing. I always noticed satelites moving in the night sky. Now I live in the urban sprawl of a city and the noise never stops and there are planes all over the sky at night. It would take a pretty spectacular alien invasion to notice anything!

Weird, Carrie! I don't know quite what to think! It's kinda creepy how the whole neighborhood seemed to be at a standstill. [Shock] The red light - did it seem to be in the truck with you, or was it outside?

About 8 years ago, there was a missle test launch or some such in New Mexico and we could see it from here. (Don't askme how!) It was very early morning and this thing made all kinds of white & colorful swirlies in the sky. Awesome to see! At the time, I had no clue what it was, but it was exciting! I was snappin' pictures like a foo'! Not sure where the roll of film is now though... [Oh Well]

Hey Kell! I lived near Ellington Airforce Base at one time, and I know we saw a lot of stuff the Air Force was testing long before it became public. It is pretty exciting to see things like that!
The red light was actually inside the truck. Like I said, it hovered from James' left arm, over to his right. We literally stopped the truck in the middle of the street to look around. The white lights he had seen just minutes before were of the same type and intensity, just a different color. It was really an odd experience!

Wow Carrie, that sounds like a very typical UFO sighting. Power disruptions, lights traveling around, army helicopters arriving after the fact. All you needed was to have the radio change stations on it's own and suddenly find that the clock in the truck has moved 2 hours into the future.

That twernt Santa. [Santa Wink]
