i believe that ghosts exist. i have seen the evidence first hand.
I don't know, however, if i believe in god. So many conflicting views are making my brain into marshmallow fluff. We are rigidly (more often than not) brought up to believe in god, it has been this way for centuries. My mind cannot comprehend a god, and i lie awake at night thinking about it.
God is eternal, incomprehensible. i have lost my faith along the way, i can't even remember if i had it in the first place. How can there be a god in this material world, but i know there are ghosts, which means there's a afterlife, which means there's a god, but how can god exist in this material world......

Zippyduck, you are not alone in your quest to understand the nature of God. God is defined in many different ways by different religions and cultures, past and present. You are correct to question a "material" god. I do not believe in the Santa type God where we pray to receive things. There are higher energies than us, and there is a universal "god", which none of us can pretend to fully comprehend as humans. When you find the truth you are looking for, you will know it, no one can lead you to it. Keep your mind open.

Zippy, I believe all of us find God by searching just as you are. I think for each person, it is a very personal voyage that only YOU can take. Since you lie awake at night thinking about this, then it must be heavy on your heart. Don't let others tell you their concept of God, take the time to find him for yourself in your own way.

I personally don't believe God exists in the material world. I feel he is on a much higher, spiritual plane and uses angels, spirit guides, etc.,as his messengers to us. Just my humble opinion [Smile]

Good luck on your journey!

Here's one way to look at it..

In my opinion, one does not need to go to church to find or communicate with God/Creator. He can be found in so many things around us; for instance, a blade of grass or a dew drop. There is no way man can create these things, so where did they come from? It had to be a higher power, in my estimation.

Another example.... cloning. Hmm, well, you could say man created a human or animal, but in reality, no, he didn't. To clone, man needs cells from an existing human or animal.

It's all very deep, but I've found these to be valid points to ponder. [Wink]

Good luck in choosing your path, Zippy. [Smile]

Zippy.... although I believe, like everyone else has said, that your quest is personal and no one can tell you what it "should be". I believe in both Ghosts and God. Why should that be a conflict? ALL things are possible through God, that means "ALL" things, not just those things we humans understand.

I agree with Cindy when she says that it's heavy on your heart if it's keeping you up at night. There's a reason why that was put onto your heart and into your head. Doc had simular questions and as I mentioned in his post, those questions are part of the path or the quest in your persona relationship with God. You never really lost your faith because God never lost his faith in you! God is like any good parent, he will "warn" about straying but ultimately he leaves that choice to you. He sent Christ as a man who suffered all the temptations, trials and tribulations of any other man, so that God could better understand how his creations work. There is a season for everything and perhaps, like Doc, this is your season.

Part of of truely "understanding" God is that we have to realize we're not gonna understand everything. Somewhere in the bible it mentions that if God were to tell us everything we wanted to know we'd become dumb.....but he gave us the good side to that scenario also: I will tell you everything when it's time...... and HE works on his time, not ours. Try not to get boggled down in a lot of what if's and how come's and just trust...trust yourself and trust God.

Good luck in your search!

I don't think you need to worry Zippy.
I don't think God needs you to believe God exists. I don't think it matters to God whether you're a devout Atheist, questioning or feel and know God in every moment of your life. I believe God loves you just the same.
Like everyone said it a personal thing. Even if you choose to believe blindly in anothers faith then you still have made your own choice.
Personally I don't believe God exists outside of anything or in anything.
I believe God in the begining and end thing. God existed before anything we can comprehend as existance and will be around when existance as we know no longer exists.
I believe God created it all. And that God created everything from God(kinda paradoxial but what about God isn't). So God is all things.
And God gave us free will. To believe whatever we want. So I don't think you need to worry. In the natural order of things you'll see signs of God (like Kell said). And if you don't, I believe that's OK too. I don't think God will think bad of you for questioning God existance when he gave you the free will and ability to question it.
For me God is Love, Sanity, Hope, Existance, Faith, etc... .

In my opinion, I think God is capable of anything.
I mean, isn't it great that we can live and experience in this world such advirsities?
They help us to experience and expand our own spirituality.
