I have a question. Whether a ghost shows up as an orb, a mist, or a full bodied apparition, does this indicate how long the person has been dead or how strong their energy is? We have all three here, so I was just wondering.

I have thought about the same thing. I believe it would take more energy to generate a full bodied apparition. Now, whether that has anything to do with how long someone has been dead, I don't know. I've heard stories of people appearing to loved ones immediately after their passings, and I've heard of ghosts from the Middle Ages appearing in recent years. I personally think a lot of it has to do with the person's emotional state at the time of passing, along with their reasons for making themselves known. I've also thought that perhaps orbs took less energy to manifest, considering that we see so many of them in spirit photography.
You said that you had all three -- do you think these are three seperate entities, or one that may have been seen in various stages of manifestation? Sounds interesting!

My father's mother passed away when he was 8 (of Leukemia) and it wasn't long afterward, she showed up at the foot of his bed one night. Seeing how he was the baby of the family, I think perhaps she was checking on him before she crossed over. [Wink] He said she was quite solid, with a bit of a glow - she never appeared to him again.

So, I think too, that it has more to do with their energy/emotional state (which, when you think about it, translates to energy!) vs. how long they've been dead. Hey - maybe this is why we don't ever see dinosaur ghosts - they only had an animal brain (Limbic), so there were no emotions attached, as there are with more complex brains in humans.

I don't know if they are the same ghost. This house is like a depot and it doesn't seem like the same ghost twice, unless, of course, you actually see them. And in that case it would be the little girl. We have tried setting up toys in the basement for her but she doesn't seem to play with them. One thing I learned on an investigation is that when we are in the basement you can get orbs on video, but when we leave the basement and leave the camcorders there, there is no activity. I guess my ghosts like to be around people.

Did the poltergeist activity (the glass bunny) happen before or after someone came to investigate your haunting? This is just my opinion, but I think the presence of some people make it easier for spirits, entities, whatever, to manifest. Just as in life there are some people we like and some people we dislike, so too, it must be on the other side. Has the little girl ever tried to hold your hand? Have you ever offered her your hand? I am always saying this, and it may sound silly, send them loving thoughts. Love is a power, but so is fear. Love is very positive, consoling and calming. Fear is negative and the food of kinetic energy.

My house has been investigated 4 times. The day that happened with the glass rabbit, my son had two friends over after school, one African American and one Spanish. The African American boy knew about ghost hunting from his aunt. I would take him on an investigation any day. The Spanish one was scared to death. They were trying to get a ghost voice on tape when the rabbit was thrown. I'm so glad we have that on audio tape. Do you think investigations upset the spirit world?
And no, I've never tried to hold the hand of our little girl ghost. I had never thought of that.

Suzy, I do not know if investigators increase the level of activity, that is why I asked. One place we lived was occupied by some very kindly spirits that became guardians to us. On one occasion, when some family friends were visiting us, their teenage son was being a little negative about our haunted home. A metal coffee pot flew off a shelf at him. Didn't hit him, but it sure seemed coincidental, and I know I appreciated the effort. In another home we lived in, when certain people visited, the activity level increased. Others who have lived in that same house since us never have any activity (or so they claim). I guess what am wondering is why you asked that your house be investigated, and what the objectives of the investigators were? There are some investigators that seem to have sceptical approaches, and this might be a negative energy that your unseen cohabitants might not have appreciated. What is the historical background of your home? Sometimes just making the effort to get to know them as they were in life helps to understand the emotions of their current being. I work in a museum, and often people come in to use the Archives to look up the history of their house or neighborhood. Some people will offer me the real reason they want to know, they think it is haunted and want to know who lived there before them. So, I think the frequency of hauntings is greater than most people will admit too!

When the Louisville Ghost Hunters Society came in their founder was shocked with his EMF detector. That little machine was fried and it left a scar on his right hand. The second time they came in they got orbs on film. The third time they came they got nothing. Then I had a little impromptu investigation where I let kids come. That's when we got the EVP "get out" and a little girl says "no" and starts to sob. Then I had the Ky. Society For Ghost Research come in and they got some orbs too. They had some sensitive people with them and they said when they came in the atmosphere in the house was chaotic, although everything was in it's place and I was the only one home. I had the ghost hunters come in to document that the house is haunted. I already knew it was, for many years. I just wanted a professional opinion.
I have checked on the history of the house since 1958 when it was built, and then back to 1903 when it was just land. There are no records of children dying here, but then again........
The owners were white rich people and they did have slaves in the 1800's. When the white people died they were buried on their own land. Same goes for the slaves. The white people were dug up and moved to a small cemetary. There are a lot of children in that cemetary. But there is no record of the slaves being moved.
OMG!!! I need to go to that cemetary and see if there are any sisters buried there around the age of 9 - 11. Wow! Why didn't I think of that before?! A psychic told us that there are sisters here and that their names are Annie and Lizzie. Well, I'll have to check on that tomorrow. I'll get back to you.
