I've been away for a bit. Hello again

I think my last posting was about Savannah GA ghosts. I novel got my interest in it.

Since then I've had another chance to take another ghost tour of Savannah. The number of dead burried under the streets and buildings of down town would astound you. One street has as many as 30,000 dead under it. Yellow feaver.

Ahh that's terrible [Sad]

Hmmm it's no wonder though with that kind of history that Savannah would have a lot of ghosties hanging around! Did you take any pictures on your last tour or see any likely ghost suspects?

I've read before that victims of Yellow Fever epidimics were burried in mass graves. I suppose that they simply built over them. But that was New Orleans that I read about, I don't know if it was true of Savannah as well.

Interesting! That does sound entirely plausible, Renee. I know that mass graves were about the only way they could deal with so many people dying pretty much at once. I'll bet there are alot of spirits there, and in many other places with a history fo having a plague-type occurrance.

First - Yes I took pictures, have not developed them yet. I am a skeptic about 99.5482% of all ghost photos I see. Most are hoaxes or can be explained by reflective light. --- But if I get anything I'll let you know.

As for the mass graves-- The Savannah you see today is not the way it use to look. The city has burned down a few times. The squares have always been there, but the function of the squares has changed. -- Some were markets, some were for laundry, some were for black smiths. Some were even used as grave sites and some for executions.

Savannah was hit by yellow fever more then once. Each time they simply dug mass graves and piled in body over body, dumping lime on them. Even the one grave yard left in view in down town has layers of bodies on bodies from Yellow fever.

Savannah has many old grave sites right on down town that were forgotten and built over -- only to be found years later. The old sites are marked with a simple stone. --- The people of Savannah are sure they do not know of all the dead under their city. The keep finding more.

I've read about that. And saw something on a TV show a while back. I don't remember if it was Savanah. But it's not too uncommon.
The show I watched of this one particular place was that it was all to common for people doing excavations to find bones.
In the show they talked about one guy who was digging for a sidewalk and found bones. And for a sidewalk you don't dig very deep. The town was known for having these unmarked graves.

hmmm, what TV show was that? I would like to see it.

One nice thing about the internet is all of the great information you can find on web sites.

I'm going to drop one in here that got me started on all of this Savannah searching. It has some great links if you are in the mood for surfing. Essence, a novel.[/URL]

One of the things that really spooks me about these places that have these mass graves because of plagues is that some of the people were put there before they had passed on.
