Does anyone know how they buried a witch? I have heard several people say that they buried them with the tombstone upside down...is that true? I have also heard of a story of a witch buried here in this area b/c the tombstone is upside down...Just wondering!

Hmmm good question and one I can't say I know the answer to, although I'm mighty interesting in finding out. I remember watching something and some point (gosh I'm specific ) and they were talking about burying I think it was a witch at the crossroads outside the town. Think Miranda think think think what was that show. Most likely something on TLC or the like. I'm curious to find out now.

I can't say I know the answer to this, but after doing a little research, that theory (upside down tombstone) may be nothing more than myth. Here are a couple links with a bit of information on witch burials, but it doesn't touch on actually how they were carried out.

Theres a story over here about a guy who lived at a place called Box Hill. Box Hill is actually a huge hill and at the top is a gravestone deep in the woods there it states that the person buried under it was buried upside down so that his soul went straight down to hell. I think he was into witchcraft and devil worship. Its said every halloween inthe early hours of the morning you can see his 'ghost' rise from the grave.
