Lyn, just so you know... no one is 'putting down' anyone's beliefs here. Let me explain a little bit. Our interest in the paranormal looks not only at beliefs and feelings, but also the aspects of finding scientific proof of the existance of spirits. That includes analysis of photographs done specifically for ruling out any other explainable causes for an anomaly or feature appearing in the photo. There are other tests, too, for taking a closer look in a graphics program and manipulating a photo to further analyze what is in it. But, this has nothing to do with putting down what anyone believes.
I personally believe very strongly in the existance of ghosts/spirits in many forms. Our house has spirits in it which we have seen evidence of in photographs, viewed them with the naked eye, and I have even had one tug on my blouse which was witnessed by another family member who saw my blouse move as if tugged by an unseen force. They are definitely there. It is just tough to get a good, convincing photograph of them sometimes. So, taking more pictures increases the chances of getting a photo will show an obvious and unmistakable example of the paranormal. We just have to be careful about reaching a conclusion about a photo before we rule out all of the possible things that could cause the anomaly.
I hope that this clarifies things a little bit. We don't intend to put down anyone's beliefs. Everyone's beliefs and feelings are important. We can all learn about spirits together. =)
