Sometimes I think my life just gets weirder by the minute! [Laughing]
I posted a while back about my mother, who is now living with us, hearing and seeing what she thought was me in her bedroom late at night. Mom is not one prone to flights of fancy, nor is she suffering from any delusions, quirky behaviors, or any disorders associated with her age. This is a very level headed, intelligent elderly woman.
That said, we had a new episode in our "haunted bedroom" this weekend. James and I have been keeping some late hours, going back and forth to the "new" house that we are renovating. We had been very late getting in one evening, and upon coming home I decided to look in on Mom. I poked my head in and told her we were back. Mom looked confused and asked if I hadn't already come in about an hour ago.
The next morning, she told me that she had dreamed/hallucinated/been visited early in the night with what she had thought was me. Now folks, I have a distinct Southern drawal -- thick as molasses. Mother claims she heard a woman with a soft, Southern accent come into her room and say "I just wanted to let you know we are here..." Mom said she assumed it was me, and did not open her eyes, just replying "Ok, I'll see you in the morning."
Mom is pretty insistent she was awake, and she definitely is not the type to hallucinate visually or auditorily. The television and radios were off, so I've ruled that out. She is also hearing some of the knocking sounds that I have experienced while here.
I would say this was some form of weird residual energy, but it really isn't something that is in our day to day routine; it was just a rare late night working. Someone previously suggested that I was possibly having an astral projection, but I've never done that, that I know of, and wouldn't have a clue as to where to start!
Is it possible that our ghost is in some way able to mimic me? The time before, Mom saw the shape of a woman sitting at the foot of the bed, but this time she did not see anything. This is just weird! [Nutty] Anyone have any clues, or has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
I've got a mental image of my ghost on stage in Vegas in front of a phantom audience saying, "And for my next impression....." [Laughing] [Nope!]

Wow. Now that is just plain bizarre. [Eek!] I remember you telling us about the first time. I don't have any great ideas here. All I can think of is maybe the ghost like's your mother and likes attention from her but doesn't want to fighten her. I don't know all that much about astral projection but it doesn't seem that you could do it without knowing it while awake. I vaguely remember stories about supposed bi-location but I've always thought it to be either a trick by a spirit or simply mistaken identity.

Does your mom possibly have a background of psychic abilities? She seems to have either experienced/saw a scenerio between you and her before it happened or you have, like you said, a ghost with a flair for being a mimic [Wink]

Either way, your mom definately has some sensitivity to what is going on in your home and may have an affinity with your resident ghostie!

Mom has quite a bit of psychic ability, although it is something she never worked on developing. As a teenager, she could always tell when I had been somewhere I wasn't supposed to! [Laughing]
Seriously, she is quite in tune with spiritual things and has had quite some interesting experiences. She tells stories of things from her childhood that lead me to believe it was something she had from a young age. Psychic ability is something that seemed to run amongst the women on both sides of her family.
At least two or three of the houses I lived in with my parents had some sort of varying degree of paranormal activity, and Mom quite often was the first to pick up on it.

Hmm! Well, I have a couple thoughts here.... I know we discussed possible astral projection before, but what I'm wondering.... do you remember at what time you first thought about telling mom you were home? In that, did you think (while you were still out) "hey, when I get home, I'm going to check in on mom and tell her we're home." Ever have a thought like that while you were out?

Also... if I read correctly, this 'person' [Wink] does not sound quite like you... a bit different in how they speak. All she said was "I just wanted to let you know we are here..." --- Here. Not home. See what I'm getting at? Perhaps this spirit was just wanting to get mom's attention (once again!); to let her know that it/they are present.

It might sound weird but maybe their's a friendly ghost or ghosts looking out for your mother . Maybe it just let her know that they were their because it thought it would give some kinda comfort to your mother .
You might also ask your mother if the voice sounded familiar to her, like maybe a dead friend or relative .

According to Mom, the voice sounded like mine. Our family originated in Georgia and Alabama and those accents have withstood several generations without the Texas twang coming in, which is a little unusual in this part of the country. The women in our family have very similar voice patterns, to the point that people, even close family members cannot tell several of us apart on the telephone. Maybe it was a relative that passed on?
I caught the phrasing of that also -- "we are here." That did make me sit up and take notice.
I don't know, it may be some weird astral/thought projection that I'm not even aware of. I do remember thinking I needed to check on her as soon as we got in. It wouldn't be the first time we've picked up on each other's thoughts. [Nutty]

The ghosts here will often imitate my voice for the kids and the kids voices for me. It is totally freaky when they do that cause they are so good at it.
