When I was younger I had an experience that just has recently come back to me. I'm not sure if its paranormal in nature, but it has been bothering me for a little while and I thought I would throw it out here and see what others thought of it.
I guess I was about 9-10 years old. One night my older brother and I were home alone. We were sitting the kitchen, playing D&D. I know, I know, I was just a kid so cut me some slack on the D&D. Anyway. I was sitting on the side of the table that faced the backyard and my brother was facing the dinning room. As I was sitting there, I happen to glance up at our window looking out at the backyard, the window was about 6 to 7 feet off the ground. What I saw there was man kinda dressed like the unibomber, this was about 1984-85. Way before his time so it wasn't an image that I got off the TV.

Anyway he was just standing there looking into the house, not moving. I couldn't make much of his features out, just a hood and sunglasses. Mind you it was nighttime and dark out already. So why would someone be wearing sunglasses at night? He just stood there for the longest time. I didn't say anything to my brother in fear that he would laugh at me, like older brothers are prone to do. So I continued on playing the game and kept glancing at the window. I can remember the guy just stood there not moving for atleast a good hour. So what do you think? Could it have been a ghost or just some prevert outside. A fact that I should mention is we had a couple of dogs at the time and they would bark at just about anybody that would come near our house and they didn't bark at all that night.

Yipes! Either one would be scary, but I'd have to go the peeping tom route first. Perhaps he wore the hood and sunglasses to help disguise himself - even at night, you can make someone's features out, if in the right lighting. And the fact that he stayed for so darn long just staring in at you makes me think y'all had a perv. ack! He was probably thinking that because you didn't react or tell your brother (and see him turn to look) that you couldn't see him out there, so he continued to peep. Glad that's all he did. Yuk, yuk, yuk - it gives me the shivers!

Either way, you had nerves of steele not to react. I would have freaked out and then kicked my brothers butt if he made fun of me. [Big Grin]

I would tend to think it wasn't human. Who would just stay so still for over an hour like that? If it was a pervert what would be his motivation to just position himself like that for that long?
He would definitely have to be psychotic in some way.
I wouldn't think a pervert would have the patience for something like that with no 'payoff'.

Nakis,

The window was 6-7 feet off the ground, sooo, she wouldn't have been able to see what he may (or may not) have been 'doing', if this was a real person. - And if he was 'doing' something, that would be the motivation to stay for so long. Knowhaddamean? [Nerdily Unsure]

Either way, that is just plain creepy! I'm with Jeannie, I would have had a screaming hissy fit and pummeled brother if he hadn't taken me seriously. You were much more poised and self-controlled as a youngster than I was!! [Nerdily Unsure]

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still not sure to this day what I really saw. I thought I would throw it out here and see what others thought. Actually I not that brave, I remember sitting there think okay its just the light reflecting off the glass and making a weird reflection. I really didn't believe that. I was just trying to calmly think it away. The only odd thing about the experience is my dogs never made a peep that night. Usually they would go nuts if there was some around that they didn't know. That's what has me so confused about the whole thing. Well, thanks again!

Well, ya gotta remember one thing. It takes A LOT of energy for a spirit to manifest into "human form" so to speak. Even for just a minute or so. I don't think that an apparition could have stayed in that form for an hour. The fact that he was there for that long makes me think that it was some kind of peeping tom. Just my thoughts =)

This story is very much like my own, only I was 5 and I saw a man in period clothing with a derby hat on outside my window. I could see through him though cause he was kind of misty, but I could distintly see the details of his ruffled white shirt and bow tie like they did in the 1800's . I screamed and fainted and my mom came running in. This window also was not close to the ground. You would definately need something like a ladder or something large to stand on. The weirdest part of my story is that at the time period as I saw my derby man, my husband and his neigborhood was also plagued with the same ghost. He was in my husband's window on the second floor. He was spotted by an irate father who had him cornered in a fenced in yard and the guy just plain dissapeared. My husband and I did not know each other but we lived very close to each other. If you went to the end of his street and went across the tracks over the creek and up the hill there was my house. He used to ride his bike by my house all the time. In a way the story of the Derby man kind of brought us together. Even if he was a pervert ghost... of course I moved away and so did he and we met up again many years later when I cut his hair and we got on the subject of believing in ghosts and having the same story. We were amazed.
