For those of you who don't already know, I work the night shift at our local hospital. Naturally, it is the quietest shift and we keep the lights down low for the patients, so it can be quite creepy sometimes!

Well, for the last 4-5 nights, we have been having some weird and scary incidents on our floor. We have had lights go on in rooms where there are NO patients. We've also had lights coming on in patient's bathrooms where when we check, the patients are fast asleep and obviously not using the potty [Shocked]

There is one particular room that all the shifts notice has a lot of noise coming from it at odd times. For example, I will be standing outside this room charting vitals, etc. and hear what sounds like a book dropping or door closing. Mind you, these noises are loud enough that the nurses sitting at their station will hear them as well. I step inside the room, nothing on the floor, bathroom door wide open and if there are patients in that room, they are asleep.

It would stand to reason in a place where death is commonplace, spirits would be lurking. I want to invest in a better digital camera than the one I have to take some pictures on our floor and see what I come up with. Because we keep the lights low at night, what would be a good digital to get the best pictures?

I don't know anything about digital camera's, the best I could say is ask the sales person which one would be best for the conditions your taking the pics in.

It sure does sound like there's activity there. Do you know how long it's been going on? Since the patients are mostly asleep hopefully that means that the ghosties aren't trying to frighten anyone. Your pretty brave, it must get spooky at night.

Yeah it is pretty creepy and I've had my fair share of goosebumps this week!

I asked some of the workers who have been there for a while if they notice more "activity" around the time someone is close to death or has died, but they haven't really paid attention. Guess I'm the only ghost fanatic around there [Nerdily Unsure]

The only thing they have noticed is that these things come in spurts. Since I've been there, I've found this to be true. There are not sporadic "happenings". Things are either very quiet or very heebie jeebie.

Cindy, there has to be some kind of pattern. Have you charted it in any way?

I have a picture in my head of your patients sleeping through a haunting only to be startled by hospital staff with digital cameras and tape recorders! [Laughing]
