I was wondering if anyone could explain something that happened the other night to me. I was woken up at 3:42am this morning to find a group of eight 'people' standing around my bed looking at me. No one made a noise and I couldnt see any features just an outline of their heads and upper bodys. I woke with the feeling someone was watching me but didn't feel afraid or threatened by them. I must admit for some reason I couldnt move but not through fear the room was really cold which went off moments after they had gone. I felt as they I was being examined, I cant really explain how I felt but I do know these black shadows werent there to hurt me. I feel a little uneasy today but that just could be because I dont know why they came.
Does anyone know why?

I have felt like I was being watched tons of times but I have never awoke to people standing around my bed. Honestly, at this point, it is really hard to say what was going on. It is a good sign though that you were not afraid. Sheesh, I would have been scared to death [Eek!]

Are you positive you were awake? Have you had other unexplained activity in your home recently? I'm also curious about there being eight people around you and the significance in that.

Wow, Lyn, that is pretty weird! Do you think it might have been sleep paralysis? Sometimes that feels as if you are awake, and with all of the stress you have been under lately, it would certainly be understandable.
I know they were in outline form, but could you determine if they were male or female, or any distinguishing features at all; such as hair length, outline of clothing, etc...?
It might not have been a scary experience, but that was bound to be a little unnerving. Now, if I'd awoken to eight folks leaning over me, there would have probably been a new opening in that bedroom! This is indeed most curious!

I also have had dreams and been awake and felt a person or people watching me, when no one would be around!! I have seen or heard about aliens in this sense, but no offense I beleive in things that no one else does, but aliens?
Anyways, I wanted to ask if there had been anything weird or unexpected that happened to you or anyone close to you after seeing these 8 people around you!! Sometimes studies show that if someone was or is going to be diagnosed with an illness, or someone is going to die!! I do not tell you this to frighten you, it has happened to me!! Some of my family members came to me when I was half awake and half asleep. A few days later I got word that someone in my family had cancer!! Sometimes that's how it works!! Thay come as a releif or just to let you know they care, or to tell you something important!!

Wow, eight of them!? It sounds as if this experience has a lot of the earmarks for sleep paralysis, however, I've never run into anyone that had that many dark figures at one time! [Shocked] It's a good thing you didn't feel fearful!

I do want to point out that this isn't necessarily an omen -- I really don't think that we can say why this happens. Sleep paralysis, they say, is caused by our brains. But, it feels so real, I have to wonder if it goes beyond anything our bodies might be responsible for. You've had a lot of paranormal activity in your house (as I read in another thread) - does it continue?

Yes Kell theres been quite a lot going on here, the kids and I were sat downstairs watching tv on Saturday afternoon and the noises coming from upstairs you would have thought there was at least 6 men walking around. The footsteps went up and down the stairs then walking around the bedrooms then it sounded like the furniture was being thrown about so I left the 5 kids in the lounge and went up half expecting the rooms to be wrecked. It had a chill in the air and there was a slight 'damp' smell but the rooms were untouched. I had an overwhelming feeling that there was a group of people in front of me but could not see. Again there was no fear. I got the feeling that the 8 round me were men I dont know why but I was very much awake and the two at the foot of the bed were quite broad in build. I spoke to a medium on Sunday and she said that my home is 'alive' and that I have opened myself to allow whoevers been at this property in the past in. She said that I have to learn something called closure but first I have to help these people over. She said that wherever I live will always have a ghost because I'm a sort of magnet to them. Its quite funny cos while I'm writing this theres a riot going on upstairs and the the kids are all at school.

Lynne, is there any way you could do research about your home? Is it a relatively old one, or could something of historical significance have happened there, maybe in the town? England has such an incredible history, that everywhere you walk, you walk in the footsteps of history.
This almost reminds me of a show I saw on "Haunted Ireland." The man being interviewed said he had fallen asleep on his sofa to be awakened by several hooded figures surrounding him, checking him out. After research, he found that the land the house was on was used by ancient Druids. He was pretty sure it was their spirits he had seen.
You might want to check with your local library and see if you can find anything about the history of your home. It sounds like it is really active!

Just as I was reading your answer Carrie a booklet came through the front door from the local council and on the 4th May they are opening a web site to cover all sorts enquirys including how to trace the history of your home and the land its built on, how freaky is that. My home is built on an island and we live just 4 doors away from the sea wall so I would imagine they're must a fair bit of history. The little boy that plays here, Michael, was here during the second world war and he must have been sent here from london because of his accent, and died here when he was roughly about 10 years old, hes says he couldnt breath properly. Things upstairs have calmed down now, peace and quite again, well until the next time

With a crowd like that, you might want to keep party hats on hand!

Good luck on the history hunt!

Because you live so close to an ocean, perhaps your gentlemen vistors are deceased sailors? which accounts for the damp smell, and the heavy boots. The first image that popped into my head when reading about your experience was a rowboat full of men.

Finding out the history of your land and its surrounds would be very interesting.

Lynn, all I can say is WOW!!!! As fascinated as I am by all of this kind of stuff....I have to admit...I would be scared out of my mind if I woke up with shadows standing around me! [Eek!] I'm glad that you weren't scared though, probably allowed you to absorb more of what was going on around you. I have to agree with Gianes with the sailor part. That would make the most sense. Please keep us posted when you find some of the information on your house. I would love to hear all about it! [Big Grin]

Right I've been busy researching the history of my home and the land it was built on and infact I've made a discovery about little Michael and his friends. First the house was built on land that used to be the site to a lighthouse in the early 1700s but the sea over the years washed the land away and the lighthouse after 200 years collapsed into the sea. Not long after this happened 8 dutch sailors tried coming to shore in a bad storm with no guidence and were killed smashed against the rocks. They're bodys were found all around here after being washed up. So that explains the heavy boots the damp smell and the 8 figures around the bed end and by the way these sailors were big built. Then in the early 1900s the area was flooded killing people living in the propertys here who were mainly farmers, but to be honest I've not encountered them as far as I know. And as for little Michael and friends it seems there was a school built here for the local children and it was hit by a bomb during the first war the children all killed out right in a fire, which is why he said he found it hard to breath before he died. My hall was built where the playground was which is why I hear children laughing and playing its so sad to know they suffered too. My last home was haunted by an Indian woman in a light blue sari. She used to live at the property and was killed in a car crash 10 years before I moved in she would just stand at the bottom of the stairs so I did a ouja board to find out from her that there was the car she died in in the garage at the bottom of the garden she couldnt go til it did. We found the car under piles of undergrowth a red ford escort the windscreen cracked and the inside badly stained with brown blood stains I had the car removed by the local council and she dissapeared.
I was glad that finally she must have been at peace she was only 45 when she was killed.

Sorry to waffle on.

Right I've been busy researching the history of the land and my home. It seems that the house was built on what used to be a lighthouse back in the early 1700s the land it was built on was gradually washed away by the sea and eventually it collapsed into the sea killing the people inside. A few nights after it was recorded that a small rowing boat with 8 dutch sailors were trying to make it to shore in a terrible storm and were thrown against the rocks and killed out right their bodys were washed a shore where the houses are now built. So that would explain the damp smell and heavy boots and the 8 big built figures I saw around my bed the pictures that were drawn of them shows them to be quite broad. After that in the late 1800s local farmers were drowned when a bad storm washed away the storm wall they built and then during the first world war a school which was built here was hit by a bomb the children were killed in the fire which explains why Michael said he had found it hard to breath before the end. And it also explains why I hear him and his friends playing and laughing because my hallway was built over where their playground was. I must admit I cryed a bit to hear them playing so happily knowing they died such an awful death poor souls. Anyway I'll stop waffling and keep researching.

Good grief, Lynne!!! Did this woman's family just leave the car she was killed in on the property -- I'm assuming this was a rural area? Wow!! What an experience!
The Dutch sailors make perfect sense regarding what you saw that night. I know it can be an awkward subject to discuss with neighbors, but have you heard of any of the people who live near you having some odd things happen at their homes?
With an area that has seen so much tragedy, there are bound to be others who are experiencing this too.

Wow, Lynne - you've found a great deal of helpful information! [Jumpin!] How exciting to be able to tie this in with your hauntings. That's really something about the Indian lady... I'm curious too, the car she crashed in was there on your property!? How bizarre!

The womens husband couldnt claim off his insurance because it was his brother who had been driving the car and was drunk when he had the crash that killed her so the car was dumped at the foot of the garden. And no it wasnt a rural area it was in the middle of an estate which was always busy it was quite q relief to move to the coast for some peace and quite, well its quite outside if not in my home. I have spoken to people around here but they clam up I dont think its talked about round here.
