When I was in my twenties I worked at a land-scaping company. One day ,as we were eating lunch, I decided to ask the men working with me if they had any ghost stories to tell.Jim -a tall man in his thirties, told me-when he was single- he used to live in a farm house way out in the jersy countryside that sat on a slight hillside.(He rented an apartment up stairs that had an outside metal stairway that ran up the side of the house). He played in a rock band at the time, and when the old lady who owned the place would go to her daughters for the weekend -(she'd alway ask him to watch the place for her) -he'd call his friends up and they would jam the night away. This one night his friends decided -on their own- they would pay him a vist--- two in the morning! As they drove up the long deserted road to the house, there against the dark skyline -in the full moonlight- they saw two dark figures rolling and fighting across the long expanse of the front lawn.In fear for thier friends life, they bolted from the car in his defence, but to their surprise, when they arrived at the spot where the two figures were last seen ,Wala--not a soul was there. With great haste they climbed the metal stairway to Jim's apartment, and finally awaking him from a deep sleep, related their story to Jim.Jim would not let this one die,and some weeks later ,after investagating the history of the house ,found to his amazement that this very house was there during the period when there was some unrest between the settlers and the Local Indians. In fact, during the peak of this unrest, an intire family---,men ,women and childern had been murdered in front of the house that had wonse stood there on that very spot,on that very lawn!!!! Good story, Sherman! I think in a lot of areas where there has been a history of unrest or strong emotions, some of those feelings from the past linger. It sounds as if the land on which your friend's home sat absorbed a lot of that history and was replaying the events. It would be interesting to know if anyone else from around there had ever witnessed anything odd.

I'm sorry I'm so late in getting to this - somehow I missed it before! Great story, Sherman, thank you for sharing it with us! =)

I'd be happy to include this one in the SpiritKeep Ghost Stories[/URL] section on the site if you'd like. Let me know. =)
