I found this on AOL news today and am just spitting nails. My heart goes out to the family of these little boys, but as for the mother.....well in my opinion justice can never be served totally because those little boys are gone forever. I am so disgusted by these moms who "IF" they are mentally ill choose to kill their children and not themselves [Mad]

TYLER, Texas (May 12) - A woman accused of fatally beating two of her sons with rocks remains on a suicide watch Monday at Smith County Jail, where she was held in lieu of $3 million bond on capital murder and aggravated assault charges.

Deanna LaJune Laney, 38, is accused of killing Joshua Laney, 8, and Luke Laney, 6, and injuring their 14-month-old brother, Aaron. Aaron remained in critical condition early Monday at a Dallas Hospital.

Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith said Laney called 911 on her cell phone early Saturday and calmly told the dispatcher, "I've killed my boys."

She reported that she had just ''bashed their heads in with a rock,'' according to Smith.

When they arrived at the home, sheriff's deputies found Joshua and Luke dead in the yard wearing only their underwear, large rocks on top of their bodies. Aaron was found in his crib with a pillow over his face, alive but bleeding.

Wearing bloodstained pajamas, Laney told the first deputy on the scene ''I had to'' when he took her into custody, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Smith said Laney acted erratically Sunday during interviews with investigators.

''Sometimes she is incoherent, sometimes she's in a fetal position and sobbing. Sometimes she's singing spiritual hymns or muttering about God and sometimes she has a flatliner (poker) face and not saying a thing during interviews,'' Smith said. ''But she has not spoken of the crime anymore. She said it all on the 911 tape. She said she had killed her children.''

Laney, he said, claimed that God ordered her to kill her sons.

The boys' deaths were announced Sunday to more than 200 members of the First Assembly of God Church, where Laney sang in the choir and her brother-in-law, Gary Bell, is the pastor.

Bell told his parishioners that he and his wife, Judy, would stand behind Laney.

''This was a brutal and horrific incident that has changed our lives (and will) for years to come,'' Bell said. ''But we all believe as a family that this wasn't our Dee that did this to her children.''

Another Texas woman, Andrea Yates of Houston, confessed to drowning her five children in a bathtub in June 2001 and was convicted of murder. The jury rejected defense pleas that Yates was innocent by reason of insanity. She was sentenced to life in prison and is not eligible for parole until 2041.

I heard about this last night. It is just sickening. As for the brother-in-law, I understand standing behind a loved one; but if he had an inkling, and surely he did, that this woman was severely disturbed, why on earth wasn't some type of intervention done??!
I've got some pretty darn nutty relatives and in-laws of various sorts. If I had a thought that someone's life was in danger, I would report it. It is pure common decency, and the only responsible thing to do.
This sounds suspiciously like the Andrea Yates' case. I just can't help but think that somewhere in this woman's life, there was someone who could have prevented the horrific deaths of those two little boys; if only they had the courage to stand up and intervene. [Mad]

That is absolutely terrible!!!

If I remember correctly, there are more crimes like this one where the mother (or father) claim God ordered them to kill their kids. It's madness!! [Mad] It'll be interesting to see how this case plays out...

I may be wrong, but I believe that the preacher brother meant she was possessed by a demon or the devil when he said it wasn't "this wasn't our Dee that did this to her children".

Does anyone esle think that her and her brothers faith runs along a 'fundamentalist' vein?

Yes I do beleive they are, no other way to put it, but extreme fundamentalists.
Actually, when I heard those poor babes were stoned, it reminded me of stonings mentioned in the Bible.
I am with everyone else on this point. Does not anyone around these parents see that there is instability, there has got to be some sign leading up to something as horrible as this situation was.
I think alot of it has to do with the way things are these days. Nobody bothers to care about their neighbor, nobody wants to get involved.
What I don't understand, is those poor boys had to be screaming at some point and nobody heard anything, nothing.
All I pray is that the Lord now has them in his loving arms, they are safe and loved in heaven.
These incidents seem to be happening more often do you think?
I hope that people around the world open their eyes and look out for each other.
I am just so saddened and shocked at these crimes.
