For those of you who are into the whole Harry Potter thing [Wink] , what would be best for someone wanting to check it out - the books, or the movies? My bet is the books are better. But seriously, would I get the jist of things from watching the movie - enough to know if I'm interested enough to buy the book(s)?

I honestly prefer to read the books first, but it really depends on what you like. I myself would rather sit in a chair with a good book than watch a movie. The movies will definately give you a good idea of the stories, if you want to go that route. My advice would be to get the first book and try it out, it's quite small and should give you a good idea as to whether of not you want to continue the series. You also have the option of getting the book on tape it you'd like to 'read' it while you work.

I do enjoy reading, and if it's a book I like, I have trouble setting it down! So, I may try the first book and see if it gels with me. [Big Grin] What is it titled.... Harry Potter and the Chamber Pot of Secrets? [Laughing] Aw, I'm kidding... Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, right?

[Laughing] No you turkey. [Nope!] It's Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. If you look at the bindings they are all numbered Year 1, Year 2 and so on.

I've read and watched the first Harry Potter and while I"m a big fan of the book I think one could watch the movie and understand pretty much all of it. I'm a big Harry Potter fan, in fact I just made the kid sit down w/ me today and watch Chamber of Secrets again this afternoon. She was aggravated with me ... Mom...do we have to watch this again???? [Thud!]

My first foray into the world of Harry Potter was the first movie. It wasn't until I saw the second movie did I read the books. Just finished Order of the Phoenix last night. J.K. Rowling rules!
