For many years the Chicago mob was run by Tony Accardo. There was a period where Sam Giancana was officially the boss, but supposedly Accardo ran it through Giancana.

One of the rumors about Tony Accardo is that he was suppose to have been one of the gunmen involved in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929, but it's never been established.
