I didn't know whether to post this here or under Paranormal Other. But lately in the house, now that we are done fixing it up, little things are happening. But I don't get any kind of vibe about it. My question is, have you ever read anything or heard of any stories that said prior to a paranormal happening there is a popping noise similar to a bottle of champagne opening? I ask this because last week a picture flew right off the wall in the kitchen. Hubby and I both heard the popping noise and the kabam as the picture hit the floor. The next day a second picture simply fell apart. The entire frame broke into 4 pieces - which is possible because it appeared as if the glue that held the joints together must have just dried up. But what a coincidence. And now for some crazy reason we have flies in the house. And I mean flies! In 3 days I have killed over 70 of them. We can't figure where they are coming from! Its bizzare! Today, only one. They are gone as suddenly as they arrived. There is no odor in the house. We keep our trash in a covered container and we have not had the doors open much at all other than to let the dogs in and out - it's over 100 degrees here in the daytime. I would certainly notice flies coming in the house that way. We replaced all the doors and they are tight so I know they aren't getting in that way.

I am just leaning to normal non-paranormal coincidences. But I have always said, there are no coincidences.

Wow Pandora that is odd about the flies. At least they are gone now, gotta hate those little buggers. As for the popping noise, I have heard something similar in my friends house. It seems to come from the kitchen late at night and while it isn't accompnied by anything falling it is similar to what you describe just a big pop noise. We've searched and have yet to find a cause for it. This was my father's house also and it happened when he lived there too.

Last night we heard the popping sound twice. Hubby and I searched high and low and couldn't find the cause. It was in the kitchen again.

How bizzare!!

Well, as for the popping noise prior to a paranormal experience, I say that indeed can and does happen. It has happened to me on more than one occasion while sleeping in the back bedroom. Remember the ecto over the bed that one time? There was MAJOR popping going on prior to that, as well as to the time the orb whooshed past my face as I was laying there (the wind it made moved my hair!). Although this was not a cork pop sound, it was more like wood popping.... but still... maybe it varies. We have also heard a single loud pop with no source that we can locate - also in the kitchen.

How far did that picture fly off the wall? Did you see it happen, or just hear it? Could it have simply fallen, or did it appear to have gone too far a distance to just fall?

I can't say for sure, but I think bugs can be part of the paranormal. Of course we know Amityville had flies, but we won't go there. [Wink] Here are some referrences I've found:

have ghosts but what do flies mean
MY EXPERIENCE (second story on the page)
Investigators, need some info please! - G.H.O.U.L.I message baord
Strange House

And another, as relates to use of an Ouija-
Ouija Cottage (really tiny black flies)

Another possibility on the flies - could it be a prime breeding season right now and a fly happened to give birth (haha - lay eggs!?) near the house or in the house somewhere!? Y'all haven't been opening the door a lot, have you (gong in and out)?

Didn't you just say the other day in a post that you missed Rose? Hope someone else hasn't decided to drop in. [Nerdily Unsure] At any rate, I'm glad the flies are gone. Let's hope it stays that way!

Pandora, I've also experienced the popping sound. Now, with mine, I never noticed any correlation with the paranormal. However, I have an antique mirror that made this loud popping noise while I was living with my parents. After two moves to other homes, it has never made the sound since. I was never able to find an explanation as to why the sounds came from it -- other than the house it happened in was pretty uncanny.
The flies would be absolutely driving me nuts. I'm thinking along the same lines as Kell -- do you think it might be breeding season for the little nasties? About a year ago, we had a gecko lay eggs(?) in the house and had an infestation of the little demons for about a month. I've heard of flies and such in association with the paranormal. That's just gotta be weird!

That popping sound? My son reported one night when he was home alone while I was at work, he heard someone walk down the hallway and he heard what sounded like someones ankle pop. Does that count?
And those tiny black flies? I had them real bad in the bathroom not too long ago. Some people report a strange feeling in the bathroom. (no we don't count the ones when we are sitting on the pot)LOL!!!!! I wonder if the dear DR. committed suicide in there? Darn, I wish I could find out about him!
Oh, and at that investigation 7-5-03, the batroom mirror fogged up for no reason. Right after the investigators got here and they reported strange feelings in the bathroom, the mirror just fogged up. I've never seen that happen before. [Eek!]

=P Im a little late getting in on this, But flies can be associated with a haunting. I seen a program on Tv on a old farm house that was VERY active and the window screens were covered in flies. Also when Arnold ( our house guest ) was really really active we had flies for a couple of days. As for the popping sounds I havent experienced that.
