I am soooo excited! The hubby and I may be taking an overnight trip to Gettysburg this Sat. It all depends on wether our dog sitter is available for that night.

The place that we would like to stay is called the Baladerry Inn. It's on four acres right on the edge of one of the battlefields near Little Round Top, AND served as a hospital during the War. [Enthusiatic Grin] Can you sense my excitement? This place has to have some kind of activity! Even if it doesn't, we'd be right on the edge of a battlefield.....bound to get some good pictures there. Plus, it's still within walking distance to some of the other attractions! YAY!!!!!

Needless to say....the Hubby and I need a break from our furry babies...and this is lookin like the perfect place to have that break! I'll let you guys know how it goes (depending on that dog sitter [Wink] ) and if I get any good pictures!

 [Jumpin!] [Jumpin!]

Here's a link if you want to check it out www.baladerryinn.com[/URL]

Wooohooo! How exciting! I can't wait to hear all about it. It's pretty nice to know that other people plan their lives around their pets too. [Nope!] I was starting to think that I was weird. [Nutty]

Renee...you are so not weird for planning your life around your pets! We have 4 dalmatians and we pretty much have to plan everything around them. I only work part time so that one of us can be home with them more often (hehe) It's either that...or have our house torn apart by bored dogs. But...they are my babies so I can't complain too much =)

Carrie, you are going to love it in Gettysburg! It's such a cool little town! There is one restaurant that you may want to try while your there....although I forget the name of it now...we are planning on going there this weekend. I can give you the name when I fill you guys in on any "ghostly" happenings! I know I shouldn't expect too much, but I have a good feeling about this trip! =)

UGH! Well, our first choice for B&B's was booked solid for this weekend. But....we found another place that looks like it will be really kewl as well. It's right in town, which is nice because it will be within walking distance to everything, AND it was built in 1872...so I'm thinking that I may still get some good pics yet!

At any rate...I am TOO excited about going away over night this weekend!

Shelley...if you can squeeze into my suitcase....your coming along [Laughing]

Dear Gettysburg person, If you really want to have fun,get a tape recorder,and- as you go around the Battlefield- state where your at (read off signs at each site) then hold the tape out the window for at least a minute.I have actual recording (in "the Vally Of Death")opposite "Little round top" (park by cannons(New york Battery)Place recorder facing up the round tops.If your lucky You'll hear what I heard and recorded--A signal gun firing ,then --a whole battery of guns opening up -complete with echo-as sound travils down to "the devels den"Don't play it all back till your back at your room! Also Ghost lovers--spend a night at "Home sweet Home" hotel. One night we spent a night there,in the last room down, in the front by the Civil war moument on the lawn.At two in the morning I was awoken by my Greyhounds, yes --poo poo pea-dee time!I walked them near that Civil War mounument that sits on the far left side of the hotels lawn.It had just stormed(this is the best time to be out and about) Hint,Hint. It was windy, and across the street sat a little one room house.I saw a light streaming out of the one back window it had.Rain shimmered on its' tin roof. I thought I'd sneak a look in the window .,then decided against it when I saw all the shrubes and small trees that were growing close to the window.I went back inside(It was in the fall ,and cold)Next day we packed to leave.I decided to take the dogs for one last walk by the mounument. As I walked around with the dogs I happened to look across the street. To my great surprise--- There was no house there, only the shrubs and trees I'd seen the night before.About that time a man came jogging by ,and I stopped him ,and told him my story about the house being there the other night,He laughed and said that that happens all the time around Gettysburg.I am a reinactor and was in the movie "Gettysburg" I was one of the men who got sick everytime I entered or stayed in the tent city set up for the back ground artists. My Blood preasure would go through the roof,(Taken by paramedics'that were on duty in camp)Every time I left the grounds I was fine!Later it was discovered that the very ground we slept on was the Confederate field Hospital, where they buryed all the arms and legs that were amputated! They hold a Ghost conference every year in the Holiday in on Chamberburg st near visiters center. On web sight if you look.I hope you have a great time.Breathe the air ,look closely in every corner, walk softly across the very ground that men died opon, they will call to you only if you believe! W.T.Sherman.

I agree with you Mary, one night won't do it! =( But...that's all we have. I would love to go for an extended visit though sometime soon though! Thanks Sherman for making some suggestions! We don't have a tape recorder, but I do have a digital camera so I'll be sure to take tons of pictures!

We've been there twice before, both day trips. On our first visit we pretty much just toured the battlefields. On our second visit we took my nephew for an after dark ghost tour! That was SO much fun! I am just so excited...I know I know, I keep saying that...but I can't say it enough!

Mary...check that inbox..should be something waiting for you! =)

Trinity, I hope you have a blast and I'm anxious to hear all about it when you return! Crossing my fingers, legs & eyes that you get some ghost pics! =P

Sherman, all I can say is wow - the entire house was missing! [Eek!] It makes you wonder what you'd have seen had you gone ahead and looked in the window the night before. [Nerdily Unsure]

Well ladies and gentlemen, We had an amazing weekend! The B&B that we stayed in was awesome. The woman who runs it was so nice, the first thing she did when we got there was sit us down and help us come up with an itinerary for the day.

We had done the tour of the battlefields the first time we were there, so this time we wanted to concentrate on staying in town and checking out anything that was going on there.

It was great because the B&B was so close to the center of town that we parked our car and just walked everywhere. We went on a tour of the Shriver house, which was very interesting...although we weren't allowed to take any pictures =( I have a feeling that we would have gotten some good shots in the attic of that place. We also went to see a lecture from Jim Geddy on Abe Lincoln. BTW this guy looks exactly like Lincoln and gave the lecture as if he was Lincoln..that was very kewl!

We also visited Lincolns Train Musuem. They have this very old kind of ride that you can take. You get into a train car, there's a screen infront of you and it looks like your actually riding on the train. The car even lifts up and shakes around a little as if it were really moving. I got some good pictures in there. It was funny because my husband is more in tune then he thinks. We sat down near the front, we were the only ones in the car....he kept turning around saying that he felt kind of uncomfortable. So out came the camera...from what I can tell from viewing the pictures on the camera itself (digital) I caught orbs in every shot. [Big Grin]

The only thing I regret was not getting any pictures of the B&B. We were in and out so much and by the time we had turned in for the night, we were so tired...that I forgot. But I took lots of pictures of everything else. I can't wait to get them downloaded. (I broke the card reader that we had...so I have to wait to get the new one before I can download anything off the camera *gasp*)

Sorry for the length, but I just had to fill you all in!

Hi Trinity,
I did get to take pictures in the Shriver house attic. I got a few orbs, but nothing amazing. They let our small group take pictures when we went there a couple of years ago. I know they are worried about the flash on the old furniture and stuff. I also have seen Mr. Getty and he is wonderful as Lincoln. Did you ever get to the bridge?
well glad you are home and everything went great.
take care
Mary [Wink]

Ok, that settles it, I have to get to PA! Some of my ancestors hung out in Schaefferstown in the 1700s, so I want to see that area. But I really, really want to go to Gettysburg. The hubby is convinced he fell at Gettysburg in a past life, who knows, maybe he did?

Kell, the place was wonderful! We stayed in the Heather Room. It was such a pretty room. The owner was hysterical too, the bathroom in our room faced out to the street. It was an octigonal shape with long windows that went almost from the floor to the ceiling. As we were being shown the room and walked into the bathroom..the owner says "Ahh..the bathroom..this is where you can really "Expose" yourself to history" [Laughing]

Anyway, I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Gettysburg. The service was phenomenal, as was the breakfast! There was also a snack bar complete with different kinds of tea and homemade cookies [Big Grin] Just a great place all around!
