You be the judge.

Yesterday hubby installed a new phone. When he did this, he accidentally unplugged a digital clock we have had for years. This clock sets itself for the date and time. So he plugged the clock back in. Well the day went on as usual. We backwashed the pool but forgot to un-reverse the pump. The pump is on a timer and that turns on at midnight and run until 6 a.m. At midnight the alarm on the clock goes off. Since we owned this clock we have never used the alarm function. Don't even know how to set it. Hubby's watch alarm goes off at the same time. After pushing a few buttons, the alarm stops. A few minutes later it goes off again. So we unplug it. 3 a.m. the dogs want outside! So I open the door to let them out and notice the pool is half drained and the whole yard is flooded!

If we had looked outside when the alarm went off, we would have noticed the pool. It just seems like too much of a coincidence. We just didn't know how to read the signs. [Thud!]

Interesting. Alarm clocks default to midnight for the alarm time when plugged in. If he accidentally turned the alarm switch on, it will go off at midnight. While fumbling around at midnight he hit the snooze button, that's why it went off again. As for the watch, and the pool timer, well that was a coincidence.

After backwashing my filter I always set the valve to Rinse and run the pump for a minute, then set it back to Filter. That way I never forget and leave it on backwash.

Some coincidences are just that, coincidences. But some others can make you wonder... I know I've had some though I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Right, the alarm does default to midnight. The coincidence part is, what are the odds that we would unplug the clock and have it reset to begin with? We buy a phone that we have been putting off for 3 months and that day, plug it in. It then resets the clock and somehow the alarm gets set. Then when trying to stop it hit the snooze button. To me, that's odd.

Sounds to me like someone might be watching out for you. I'm just glad you were able to avert what could have been a real potential disaster! I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

Oy! While cleaning up the pool today, I had the brand new cell phone clipped to my belt. I leaned over and kerplop! Yup. Right into the deep end the new phone goes. Rather the dead new phone! =(

Oh man that's awful. I'm sorry about your phone.

The clock thing is weird. I've had strange things happen with clocks too.

I have to agree with Renee. I think everything happens for a reason. Everything that happened could be explained...the clock resetting to 12:00, then having the alarm accidently set and going off at midnight. Same with hitting snooze and your husbands watch alarm going off. What makes it strange, is that all of this happened at the same time.....leading up to you finding that you had forgotten to do something that was causing a major problem in your yard. I'd say someone is watching over you too.

I can see one or two of those things happening and just calling it a coincidence, but when ya put everything together....

I'm sorry to hear about your new cell phone! UGH! Of all the things right? =(

i've had a weird thing happen with a clock radio once. i'll put that in the ghost forum though because it more deals with that than the alarm clock. so if you guys want to check that out, i'll have it up later.
