Hi! I'm new, but decided to jump right in. I need advice on this subject. Today someone close to me explained they had been talking to four different... entities(?) since the move into the new house. Anyone know about this stuff?

Blueskat, I moved your topic here because I thought it might get a little more attention. Without knowing a little more about the house and what has been going on, it is a little hard to say.
Some people do have the ability to communicate with spirits. For some, this is a way of life -- John Edward and others like him come to mind. For others of us, it is something that may happen every once in a while under the right conditions. If there are indeed four running around the house, it must be a pretty active place.
I would suggest taking some pictures to see what shows up, and documenting any odd happenings, along with your friend's communications. After you document these communications, check on the history of the house to see if this may be a previous owner or someone connected to the property. Is he/she seeing these spirits, or hearing them? Has this person done this in the past, or is this a new phenomenon for them?

Well to be honest, it's my son that this is happening to. He's seven. I've always raised him to believe in spirits, because i've had my own experiences, even as a little one myself. He's never mentioned any other experiences to me before, but he does seem to be a little more intune to what's around him. Looking back, I can see that this has been happening for at least the last two months. I will take pictures as suggeseted and see what comes up. I am just worried that these may scare him a little too much. Thanks. Any more suggestions?

It won't hurt to reassure him about this. Does he seem frightened, or is he pretty matter-of-fact about the whole thing?
We have had soooo many people post about paranormal activity in regards to young children. I had a few odd experiences as a child and several other folks on the board have also. It might be the active imagination of a seven year old, or he may really be experiencing something.
I think it might be a good idea to just let him know that these spirits are not trying to hurt him, they are just trying to find someone who can understand them. If he really is frightened, I would not share the pictures or any information you find with him, at least until he is older.
I tried this with my nephew a while back and it did seem to work. He had been "seeing" and "talking" to "people" in my former home and was pretty darn convincing that something was indeed happening. It got to the point he was afraid to nap at my house. I filled a squirt bottle with water and a lavender scented oil. At nap time, we explained to the ghost that he was upsetting Caleb and we would appreciate it if he did not make himself known while Caleb was visiting. We squirted the room with "Ghost-be-Gone" and he felt much more comfortable taking a nap. I let him keep the bottle with him to squirt again if he felt frightened. Caleb was not afraid to take naps after that, although we grownups did have a few bizarre occurances afterwards. Good luck with this, and let us know how it goes! [Wink]

I'm interested to know what happens and what you find out as well! Do keep us posted and I hope the Ghost-Be-Gone spray works, if needed. [Wink]

Hello

I would be careful with this one. I agree not to include your son in what you find it would scare him. But whatever he is talking may not be something nice. I have read of lots of children/people talking to entities that they think are just lost souls etc, but are actually evil beings that pretend to be someone else. I think it's the same as your son talking to someone who is on the internet - you don't know who it really is. I have my own son and if that happened to him I'd tell him to tell the entities not to talk to him and find someone else. But that's just me - I would tread carefully whatever you decide to do.

Best wishes [Embarrassed]

I'd like to interject something here... =)

Just because a person can see, hear and/or speak with spirit, doesn't mean we should jump to the conclusion that it is evil in nature. Decesaed relatives or previous owners of a house are the more likely candidates for ghosts. I don't think blueskat has mentioned any event that would lead me to believe there is an evil presence in her house or that any are 'bothering' her son. I just wanted to make it clear that we should not jump to these conclusions. [Wink]

Kell, I am behind you 100%. Just because a child may or not be sensitive is no reason to put the stigma of evil on someone who has or might not have passed.
Having raised a child that is sensitive and having two grandaughters 10 years and 3 years old that are also, I never found the need to have to tell them to tell anyone to "go away."
I don't like branding and the assumption of evil here isn't right.
You know what they say about assuming anything.

I have to also agree. I don't think that the assumption should be made that what your son is seeing or talking to is evil. Nothing has seemed to happen as of yet to lead you in that direction of thinking. I'd have to also agree with Kell that it is most likely a previous owner or relatives paying him a visit.

Carrie, I love your idea for "Ghost be gone" [Big Grin] What a great way to help make your nephew feel more comfortable about taking a nap there! I just told my husband about it and we both agree that you should get a patent on that! Honestly I just love it! =)

Trinity, I might have gotten that idea here! I can't remember who thought of it first. It really did work with Caleb. I think he was actually experiencing something, the talk we had with the ghost I think did a lot to help our situation. "Ghost-be-Gone" spray gave him a lot of comfort and security in dealing with something he wasn't too sure how to handle. It also works for monsters in the closet and werewolves under the bed! [Wink]
