Hello! I am new here and have been reading a lot of your stories and such... It drew me to join and to ask you about something that's been bothering me here in my own home. I can't exactly say "bothering" I guess, cause it's not scary. I say that meaning that when these certain things happen I don't feel frightened. Just caught off guard you could say. Ok, here I am rambling on when I need to just tell you what it is I'm talking about!

We've lived in our house now for almost 4 years. There were no strange things or anything happening during the first 2 years here. It started when we fixed up the back bedroom and moved our room (my husband and I) back there. I don't recall anything happening right off the bat, but last year (about a year after we put our room back there)I would be in the room putting clothes away during the daytime, sleeping at night, whatever, and from out of no where I would be hit with a strong smell. It is not a perfume I have, nor anything I have ever smelled before. It's a sweet kind of smell almost like a cross of a perfume and a candy flower. Just as quickly as it hits me, it's gone. I love the smell and breath it in deeply everytime I smell it. Once I even got my husband in the room quick enough to smell it. (Mind you the windows are not open) I know I'm not crazy since he to noticed it! LOL Then sometimes at night while I'm sleeping I can see a figure or something walking in front of me. We leave the bathroom light on at night for the kids sake (they're scared of the dark) and then crack the bathroom door shut. Our house is really old and the bathroom is the kind where it sits between the two bedrooms. Those are the only 2 doorways to it. Anyway, there I am sleeping and the door is cracked open only an inch and something walks by and blocks the light from my face. You know how you can tell even with your eyes closed when the light is blocked... Here's the last thing that happened. Several weeks ago I had surgery and wasn't sleeping well at all. I was awakening at night all the time, almost every hour. I'd say it was probably around 2a.m. or so and once again, I woke up trying to find a more comfortable sleeping position. When I opened my eyes, plain as day, there was a face right above my bed smack inbetween my husband and I. I know it was real because I studied it with my eyes for quite a few seconds before the black/white thing disappeared. It looked to be a woman and her facial expression didn't change at all while I looked at her. It was almost like a picture. Feeling tired and not at all "freaked out", I just closed my eyes and went back to sleep. If there is a ghost/spirit in my bedroom she's friendly. I mean to not harm us for the 2 years we've been in there she'd have to be right? Or, am I just going nuts and there's really nothing there? I think it's the first of the two and she's real. Well, as real as one can get in the afterlife anyway. LOL

Any opinions on this? Please help me decide! This is my first experience of stuff like this.
I also E-mailed to this site a picture some friends and I took a few months back of an orb. It wasn't taken in my bedroom, it was taken at an old so called haunted bridge. If you didn't get it and would like to see it please let me know. I'm curious as to what you guys think of that as well! I believe the pic said from Dusty in Indiana at the bottom.

Hi Gwenivere!

Wow, it sounds to me like you have yourself a ghost! Even if a house is "haunted" there won't necessarily be ghostly activity 100% of the time. You had mentioned that you and your husband had done some work on the house. That can sometimes stir up an otherwise dormant spirit.

You had also mentioned that your house is really old. It might help to do some research on the house and it's previous owners. That may give you some insight as to who is haunting your home.

Another idea is to keep a camera by your bed and when you get hit with that scent that you mentioned or feel like someone is in the room with you, snap a pic! I bet you'll capture something on film.

Definitely let us know how things are going and if you have anymore experiences!

It does sound like you've got yourself a ghostie! She may be a protective spirit, a former resident of your home who just decided to stick around and watch over her house and your family. She may have made herself known to you after your surgery just as a way of "checking" on you, knowing you weren't feeling well. Trinity gave some great advice -- keep that camera by your bed and snap a pic the next time something happens! It sounds like your recent renovation might have stirred her up a bit. Keep us posted on what happens!

Oh don't worry! I will most definately be letting you know if I have any other episodes! The camera idea is great! I guess I never considered doing that only because up until now, I never knew if I believed that spirits/ghosts really did hang around like that. I must admit that after having these strange things happen in my own bedroom I am now a believer!

Thanks for listening to me and giving me some ideas! Looks like I'll be making a stop for some film this week! [Wink]

I concur - I too think you have a ghost! Trinity and Carrie covered everything I would have said, so I won't reiterate. [Wink]

Do you have a scanner so that if you do catch something on film, you'll be able to scan the photos in order to share with us? If you don't have a scanner, you can always ask the photo developers to put your pics on a CD - then you can have access to them on the computer as well.

Good luck and I hope you find out more about what's going on! =)

Hello

I agree with you, I think the lady dosen't mean any harm as you would feel scared. The smell must be the perfurm she wore. I also think that she may of lived a long time ago because you don't recognise the scent.

It would be interesting if you could do some research on your house - see what turns up.

Lets see what turns up for you - good luck. [Roll Eyes]

Hi guys! It's been awhile hasn't it!? I wanted to let you know that I had more "events" occur. All seemed pretty quiet after I started talking here with you about all my prior happenings until this past weekend. My hubby was out playing Poker as he does once a month at his buddy's house. I was here alone with my kids and my dog. After Scott left to catch up w/ the guys I logged on to check my email. I heard someone come in the back door not 20 minutes later. Of course I go check considering the doors are suppose to be locked, which they still were. I shrugged it off and came back to the computer. A few minutes later the same thing happened again. "Hmmm" I thought to myself but still brushed it off. Around 11:30 I finally headed to the bedroom to get my pj's on. As I was changing at the end of my bed my brush falls off the dresser. (I know I didn't bump it, I was to far away) I pick it up and set it back on top. As I'm setting that down my bottle of hair conditioner falls off behind me and hits the floor. "Weird" I'm thinking. Thinking now that someone is toying w/ me I left it and got in bed. 5 minutes later I hear a kid get outta bed. I wait knowing they'll be crawling in w/ me anytime.. and nothing happens. Then I hear the 2nd kid get out of bed. Still, no one comes in my room. So... I go check on them and of course, they're still sound asleep in there bunkbeds. By this time I'm really tired so I climb back in bed and say "Stop it please, Im tired now" and never heard another thing the rest of the night. I must appologize for not getting any film yet. I know I should be jumping on that to see if I can catch something... I guess I'm holding back a little because I don't want to end up freaked out if I do get something on film! LOL

After all that... last night I'm sitting at my work place working away and all the sudden I'm smelling a sweet smell again like I do in my bedroom.. I'm asking everyone around me if they can smell it and they all say no! I'm the only one that can smell it and it's strong! Now I'm thinking I'm going crazy. Is it possible for spirits to travel around w/ you? Can they make themselves noticable to only certain people? I'm getting confused on things now. Then again, this being the first house where we've had this kind of thing is all new to me. [Confused]

Any suggestions/comments anyone? I'm open! hee hee

Hi Lady,
May I ask why your asking if spirits travel with you. I do hope your not thinking of moving.
Being a sensitive, I am used to smells, I get that alot. Take for instance, Chantilly is my grandmother?
Think further into it, any relatives that have passed that might be saying hello? They tend to do things like that, right in front of you so you take complete notice.
From what you have said so far, it doesn't seem you have anything to worry about. How about the kids? Have they asked you about anything odd or unatural to them?
Sorry so many questions! Has hubby sensed anything?
Please let us know and its nice meeting you!

I can assure you that we arn't thinking of moving for that reason...lol, but we are remodeling the house so next year we can sell it to move closer to where my hubby works. It's an hour away which makes a two hour drive (lots of gas) and it would be much nicer to be closer to his work. The reason I was asking if "they" follow people is because I have never had anything happen outside of my home and to smell it at work caught me a bit off guard I must say! As for my husband, he's only smelled it once and it was after I pointed it out to him. My kids never say a word other than than the normal "monster under the bed" type stuff. I've had lots of people pass in my family, but none that I can recognize that scent from. I really don't know... Well thanks for posting back to me! Every little bit helps!

Hi Lady G.!
I would think smelling it at work shocked you.
I do beleive and others will agree that certain types of spirits can follow. I depends on what kind of haunting you have and how much your houseguest likes you, and really whether she/he is tied to that certain spot.
I have actually had mine come for a ride into town with me?
Having the sweet, nice smell is a good sign that she is friendly, probably does like you and your family.
The reason I asked about family that have passed, well it could be a great somebody you never even knew, or knew as a child and maybe you don't remember the scent?
Your houseguest sounds pretty easy going LOL! Just gives you that little whiff to let you know she's around.
I really wouldn't worry any more about it, unless events change.
If they do let us know!
Hugs......

Hey Lady G. You and I have talked plenty about your house but you didn't tell me that the smell "followed" you to work! How freaky! I can tell you this though in an odd way you will miss her when you move. Since I moved out of my parents house which was built over a native american burial ground and where freaky things happen normally and into a house that for the most part is empty except for us of course. I've kinda missed feeling there presence. We didn't know it was built over a grave yard until hurricane Floyd. My parents live on a cliff over a river and with all the rain the runoff washed alot of the cliff away. When the storm was over there were bones sticking out of the cliff! We had always felt presences and several people had clamed to see 1. A Native American Cheif and 2. A Native american woman in the house. What did we do with the bones hanging out of the cliff you ask. We called the Archiologist for north carolina who dated the bones and returned them to what is left of the tribe the came from for proper reburial. Needless to say I kinda miss them now

It's amazing how one can grow attached to a spirit isn't it? As long as mine doesn't scare me I'm fine with her. She seems friendly enough and even helped me out of bed yesterday! No joke! lol I had already hit the snooze button at least 3 times and still wasn't ready to get up when my son's alarm went off..it's a really annoying spiderman clock and the song plays continuously until you shut it off. Both boys were asleep with me and weren't in there to get it themselves. Well I waited to see if it would shut off on it's own and it wasn't so I finally got up and went into the kids room and as soon as I stepped in there it quit. Funny huh. We never set the dumb thing. I guess it was a "motivator" for me to get up! LOL That's not the first time it's gone off either, one night we were watching a movie and the kids had been asleep for at least an hour maybe two and it played one time only. My husband and I looked at each other and just shrugged it off. Then a toy in the toybox went off as well. As long as she doesn't wake the kids up I don't care if she plays. hee hee
