That's a pretty creepy story, Bonnie. I wonder if more than the two people have ever witnessed something like that. eep! I've been chased by a real dog and that was plenty for me! [Eek!]

I think I have heard a similiar story about "devil dogs" or "death dogs". My grandmother and grandfather on my father's side are both from Ireland and I vaguely remember my grandfather telling a story about ghost dogs in Ireland.

I also remember another Irish legend of the banshee. The tale goes that if you hear the wail of the banshee you or someone close to you is soon to die. I am not sure if anyone else has a heard a story that goes along the same lines. I can't remember exactly how it goes, I was pretty young when I heard it. [Wink]

Sounds like an Irish Wolf Hound to me I'm not sure what to think but an Irish wolf hound could be scary to someone who never saw one. df

I had never heard the story about the "devil dogs" before. Although I'd have to say, I'd hate to run into one! [Eek!]

I have heard about the banshee. I've actually heard a lot of different stories about them, but the basic premice is always that if you hear it scream, someone is going down!

It's Wales. My home. Whales are big sea mammals.
There are lots of stories about the hellhounds. The main one is about a massive black hound with fire red eyes attacking a church and tearing the throats out of those who tried to flee. Only those bent in prayer were spared.
