Hi everyone , I was looking through some of the old posts and saw the topic on favorite scary movies and just wanted to put my 2 cents in. My favorite movie is the uninvited, it is a old blk/whi and it's about a brother and sister that buy an old haunted house on the coast of ireland. This movie is scary with a bit of humor to it. I was 15yrs old when I first saw it and was [Shocked] scared so bad I had goose bumps for a week. I really love old ghost stories more than the new hack them to pieces movies =P . Well just wanted to share with you take care. Barb

I love scary movies IF I'm not by myself and a pillow to cover my face [Laughing] Some of my favorites are Poltergeist, The Others, The Sixth Sense, and The Gift. And no matter how much they show it, I still love Jaws....that music always gives me chills.

I think it's great that you are 33 and just got a Freddie Kruger t-shirt (I'm 38 and feel the same way you do about this kinda stuff)Shows how young at heart you are. I also love halloween, the exorcist and the gift was good also (been thinking of renting that one again). Now as for jaws ...... that is my husbands favorite, he knows every line of that movie [Roll Eyes] . Brings back alot of memories I was young when that came out and I had nightmares for weeks [Shocked] I love to be scared! Thanks for the response to this post guys. Barb

My favorite scary movie is an oldie: "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" starring Don Knotts.
Next choice would be: "The Frighteners" starring Michael J. Fox.
Sixth Sense was good too.
Jeepers Creepers was creepy, but I didn't like it.
Nor do I like "The Ring".

I loved The Ring and the Sixth Sense too! I'm not so much into slasher films than regular ghost movies or psychological things.

Has anyone seen Identity? I wouldn't really classify it as scary, but I really enjoyed it. I was expecting it to be really bad. I would suggest it if I liked The Ring and the Sixth Sense.

The last real slasher flick I've seen was Wrong Turn, which was really really funny for me and my friends because we all live in Southern West Virginia where the movie took place. One of my them live in the so called "Greenbrier Backcountry" and the area in the movie looked NOTHING like Greenbrier county which is mostly a farming area and a few fairly good sized urban areas. Not trees trees and more trees as far as the eye can see. Also the roads in the movie were in a much better shape than ours, lol. The super stereotypical imbred rednecks were pretty funny with their random "yip yee"s and stuff.

What was really funny is that soon after the movie's release all of these West Virginia tourism commercials with a group of four extremely happy young people having a good time at all of the attractions (not to mention a cover of Country Roads) started to play on our tv stations.

Max Schreck, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff.
Need I say more?
I love old black and white horror flicks. Teen slasher movies just don't scare me. Anyone can make a film go quiet then have something horrible jump out at you loudly.
I thought the ring was amazing well done. True horror. I haven't seen anything that good in a while. Event Horizon comes pretty close too.
both great movies.

Ah, all the old black and white horror films! I used to watch those too on Saturday afternoons.
I really enjoyed 'The Ring' too. It was so scary without all the gore that goes along with most of todays scary movies. Another movie that I really like that I just recently saw for the second time was Rob Zombies 'House of a 1,000 Corpses'. The first time I saw it was in the theatre and I HATED it! In fact most of the people that were there to see it either left early or were talking about how much they hated it on the way out.

After getting home that night my husband and I actually did some research on the internet about the movie. We just couldn't see how Rob Zombie would make something that was so bad. Here's the thing...it's suppose to be bad. It's a tribute to all those old 70's B-grade bad horror flicks. ex: Texas Chainsaw Masacre...movies like that.

Needless to say, we rented it the other night, and I have to say it was much better the second time around, now that we understand what he was trying to do. Anyway, anyone who is into those kind of movies should really check it out. If you do however....just remember....70's B-grade BAD horror flick!

I really didn't like it to much, but will give it another shot since you said it was better the second time around my husband loves the "bad horror flick". Speak about bad scary movie's did anyone see Red Water on TV last night? It was another badly made shark movie [Confused] boy oh boy when will they ever give up making bad movies =P !
