Well, I hope when they decide to give the money back it is not in a check. I lost a check, I thought I must have thrown it away a couple months ago or so. But I am beginning to wonder.
Curt's grandmother died in the early 70's. She had taken out a life insurance policy with Womans Day in the 50's his brother told us.
Womans Day insurers contacted Jim and Jim drove around with all the papers for everyone to sign. Between all the grown kids, each would receive $40.00. I guess everyone got a check for $274.00, ours is nowhere to be found! We asked Jim to contact the insurer for us and tell them we lost the check.
I didn' know it but Curt's grandmother never had a stone on her grave, so I suggested we all use the money to buy her one. Where did it go? LOL
To this day I do not remember throwing it away!

Hey Peg,

Maybe she doesnt want a stone, maybe she wants
a monument! [Laughing] She's saving for the right
one! Make sure when you get it, you ask her.

I always wondered about that. I know when I die,
I dont want anything sad, I want balloons and
a happy headstone. If I dont get it, well
watch out! And if they cremate me. well they
thought amityville was bad! [Enthusiatic Grin]
have a happy!

Well, first off I could not beleive that these boys have left her with no stone all these years!
Another weird fact is her name is the same as mine? Peggy Sue H. LOL! I was the one that brought it up to get their poor grandmother a stone, so she should like me right =)
From what Curt's brothers have told me, she didn't get along at all with Curt's mom, and Curt's father had passed away a few years before.
Mom took care of her and she did all kinds of things to upset mom. Pouring ketchup down the heating vents, I guess you name it gramma did it! She finally started doing such odd things Curt's mom put her in the county nut house. And the boys visited her alot and she loved the races down the hall in her wheelchair?
Actually, sans the ketchup, she sounded pretty cool to me! LOL
So, maybe she is saving? I have no doubt one or two of our visitors may be from Curt's side of the family. Least our relatives are getting to know each other?
((((((((hugs))))))

This is partially in reply to the main topic and the three follow-up replies. (Everything following seems to grow personally between users and I feel uncomfortable just jumping in.)

Peg: I identify with and can say I respect your husbands` disbelief and frame of mind. If you can't taste it, touch it, hear it, smell it, or see it, it surely couldn't exist? =)

Peg / Kell: I have to disagree with you both indefinately. To say everything you see out of the corner of your eyes is substantial proof of 'shadowmen' is misleading. 'Floaters', or flesh particles from birth caught within every person's vitreous could be seen scientifically as a large reason to see things that are not there. (As light passes through the vitreous, any bits of tissue moving about in the vitreous cast shadows onto the retina, and you see those shadows as things "floating" in your field of vision.)

Peg: However to say this is the finality of this conversation is only partial; an excuse serves no purpose where truth is sought. You've led your husband to numerous sites as you've metioned, pertaining to the afterlife and what-not. What a scientific, rational, and factual-based reasoning person needs to understand....is logic. (Not to put down the many sites dedicated to ONLY opinions, and assumptions without proof) Send him here to read this over....

Once he can accept that mathmatically and scientifically, 'ghosts' are a profound reality, he will better be able to understand your point of view.

An exerpt to grab his attention?

"...The experiment together with the mathematical theory completely, destroyed the medieval obscurantists - the Flat Earth religious fanatics.

Proving survival after death is exactly the same, but not quite as easy, because here we are dealing with phenomena that are beyond the range of our five physical senses. In order to detect this type of phenomena we have to work with a medium - a machine that can do the job.

It was the invention of the achromatic microscope in 1830 by Joseph Jackson Lister that enabled his son to write his paper on antiseptic surgery. From this moment on we have had the proof that reality also exists in the invisible. Radio and television sets are also detecting normally invisible phenomena. They are mediums sorting out signals at different frequencies. This is the reason why, we are forced to work with a human medium in order to prove survival after death..."

Jase, I'm afraid you misquoted me. I did not say that everything you see out of the corner of your eye is shadow person, as you stated. I said "in most cases" it is, but for comfort's sake, we can change that to "in many cases" or "in some cases".

I'm very well aware of "floaters" and why they happen. I also know the difference between a floater and an actual shadow in the room, but thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention as a possible explanation.

Jase,
Please don't feel uncomfortable in adding your comments. I've always felt the best paranormal investigators are skeptical believers. You have to eliminate the logical before the true facts can be discovered.

I'm also familiar with floaters through my hubby. He had dark spots apear in his field of vision (not just the corner of his eye)in one eye but they didn't disapear rapidly. In an eye exam, they discovered a torn retina which required immediate surgery or he would have gone blind in that eye. A bump on the head or lifting a heavy object (one that makes you strain so much you hold your breath) can cause a torn retina especially in people over 50.

I'm also going to add my own shadow ghost experience. Those of you that have been on the board for awhile have already heard about my cat coming back for visits but I'll repeat it for the new members.

We had a cat die of liver problems. She adopted us when our neighbors divorced and left her behind. She was deaf. She also had never used a liter box. She would stand at the door and meow to be let out and when she had completed her business, she'd climb up the porch to the roof and then jump on to the window air conditioner which made a BANG sound. This got our attention and signaled she was ready to come back in. I'd open the door and she'd jump off and come in.

After she died, I was sitting at the computer, fully concentrating on what I was doing, when BANG, the air conditioner made the familiar noise. I just got up, went to the door and opened it (reflex) but no cat. Realizing that this shouldn't happen I looked around for another explanation but nothing appeared out of the normal.

The next day, the same thing happened but instead of going to the door I looked up at the airconditioner and there was a shadow of our cat coming through the mini-blinds covering the top of the window with the airconditioner in it. I slowing raised one of the slats to the blinds thinking possibly it was another cat but when I looked through, there was nothing. I could see through to across the street but the shadow was still there. Then as I watched, the shadow jumbed off the airconditioner to the ground. That proved to me that it was Kitty.

We've since installed central air and removed the window airconditioner but I still get the occational BANG noise as if the airconditioner were there but she hasn't felt the need to cast her shadow because I know she's there and greet her when she checks in with us.

Hi everyone!
Jase I seen your post and I didn't say that "everything you see out of the corner of your eye is a spirit".
I am a sensitive, so I don't see things out of the corner of my eye that I would not turn around and look for.
My husband not only seen the shadowperson, he seen it come down the hall and turn into our bedroom.
I had wondered if somehow my husband had gone sensitive because he also started hearing noises in most of the rooms of our house. My grandaughter and I had heard them, but then Curt started also.
As for seeing things out of the corner of your eye. I beleive that alot of people do see something they don't want to see or can't explain away in this manner. Whether it be a paranormal ability on a sub-level or out of being just plain scared. I also beleive this group of people to be large.
To say that everything we see is floating skin is about as skeptical as saying they are all spirits, which they aren't.
Each person needs to find they're own spirituality in these issues. I didn't make Curt beleive anything, he blamed me for it!
MARE.......I need one of those Ghost Magnet sweats next! Because I do tend to draw them out and it is because they see the caring and maybe they need some help? I have done that.
And no my spirits aren't gone. But they are leaving Curt alone. The same night Curt told them this was "HIS" home and to leave I also spoke with them and asked them not to be mad at him, he was scared.
Needless to say, it has been quiet but my buddies haven't gone.
Whatever you think you have figured out in the world of the paranormal, watch out, it will somehow prove you wrong =)
